im envious- id like to have machines like those. how many barrels does this man make a monthThese are the machines that made barrels for P.O. Ackley, Louis Palmisano & Ferris Pindell, Walt Berger, Lester Bruno among others. The only Apprentice Boots Obermeyer ever had. Im working on doing a documentary before it's to late. Very pround to call him my friend.
Is it rare for you to get a right hand twist? He has made a few barrels for me and all are fantastic shooters. They also clean easily and chambering and rifling are immaculate. He even surprised me with a right hand twist 6.5 x 47 Lapua barrel that I didn't know was going to be right hand twist. It is one of my best rifles. Plus, the direct thread suppressor never works loose - just tighter! He battled serious health issues several years ago - beat the odds just to survive. He is a truly an amazing barrel maker. Also a very accomplished competitive shooter, although he hasn't done that for quite some time. He was training his son but I don't think his son has the same level of interest that he has. Too bad he will have to quit making barrels. No one else like him - his apprenticeship with Boots sure paid off!
Never had one before. Never saw a need for one. Still get left twist barrels - I really don't check to see if there is a right twist option when I order a barrel. But I don't recall ever seeing that option. Is it rare for you to get a right hand twist?
