Cool new case dryer

Saw Lyman came out with a nice case dryer this year. Midsouth Shooter Supply has them on sale. Havent tried it, but seems like it would work better than sticking cases in an oven or food dehydrator and could be set up in the reloading room. Just thought I'd share the info for the folks who wet tumble brass.

Here's a link to the dryer on Midsouth.

Thanks for the heads up, but I've gotta say that my oven works pretty durned good for this task.

I'm getting to the point where real estate in my reloading room is getting pretty valuable. It's starting to over-flow into the kitchen now. I may as well stick with the oven. jd

It looks like it pretty much is a food dehydrator with Lyman's own branding on it. Good news is it's cheaper than most dehydrators though, and you won't mistake it for a food-safe one if you've also got one for food.

Yeah the price is pretty awesome. Lyman has been doing a good job in recent years of coming out with new innovative products while keeping them very affordable. My hat is off to them.

Toaster ovens do work good. But I can never get the toaster ovens to last. Burned up 3 of them now. None lasted very long. Longest was maybe a year. Price point doesn't seem to matter. Cheapo, expensive, or in between. Maybe I just have bad luck, maybe they all have a design flaw?...Dont know, but I'm not buying another one. Have been dry tumbling since the last one burned up. Might go back to wet tumbling if this Lyman proves to work well

Solar power!! We have plenty here in Nevada &...…………….it's FREE!!!! :)

80F here in Ohio. Just washed some bird crap off of my car roof. The roof was so hot you couldn't put your hand on it for more than a couple seconds.

Didn't know Frankford was making a case dryer as well. Looks like it dries a little faster than the Lyman too. Good on them. Frankford actually makes some decent equipment, regardless of the low cost. I've been using their vibratory dry tumbler for a few years since I stopped wet tumbling and it has never failed me. Works much better than the RCBS vibratory tumbler I had many years prior and the Frankford is quieter too. I also use their handlheld depriming tool and it works great.

Also noticed Frankford is also making a rotary tumbler for stainless steel media AND they are selling the SS pin media as well.

I use a $90 food dehydrator I got on Amazon. Has a 10 hour (or anything less) timer, and is settable from something like 30 to 70 degrees C. I find cases are dry after 30 minutes at 70C, but usually run it for an hour anyway.

It also does pretty good at making beef jerky.

it's summertime in the south, best case dryer is the sun. I made a homebrew job using a bathroom exhaust fan and a lightbulb switched by a clothes dryer thermostat for heat for winters and night drying. Cost me about 30 bucks including plywood and screws

In Montana we get 6 months of winter and maybe 3 months of warm summer weather. I suppose maybe I could freeze the water on the cases then chip it off. Lol :D
Not much better in northern Utah maybe 6 weeks longer more if you are willing to shoot all bundled up which I am as soon as I recover from a heart attack and wife..... nuff said
