Controlling Neck Tension

IMO ? Please enlighten me.

In my opinion..... Experience from shooting a 30BR for about 3 seasons in 100/200 br matches. If I annealed the brass every time the bullet went into the case almost effortlessly. If not annealed the bullet seating force went up every reloading. Eventually you find yourself thinking you need a bigger bushing. NO, it's long since time to anneal.

If you dont get the exact same measurement anywhere on the neck you need better neck turning tools. No need for stops or anything like that

Edit: After responding I see you refered to turned necks, whereas I specifically mentioned unturned necks.

Every factory unturned case neck wall I've ever measured is tapered significantly from shoulder to case mouth. Given that, a depth stop is required.

Yes that was many years ago and the aggregates are smaller now then the records were then. Matt

Yes, Agg records are falling ever year, 8 were set in IBS in 2015'. You make it sound like everone at the match are shoot sub 2007' Aggs. I have seen most of the match results, there are very few shooter shooting sub 2007' Aggs. it is being done, but not by many, maybe 1st place shooter.
I was the first to shoot sub 1" in any IBS or NBRSA 600 yds match, with 0.749" with a No Turn 6mmBRX LG In 2007'. My record was broken one year later, by Paul Wagner with a 0.711' with a no turn 6mmBRX also. The light gun record is now down to 0.336' by Rodney Wagner, Paul's Dad. What I am saying that a NO Turn neck will shoot.

But there's also good reason why No Turn is not popular in 600/1000 today (and hasn't been for several years). Plain and simply, more consistent neck tension come from turned necks, and more usable pieces of brass per box if there turned. Plus the brass has changed over the years.

I agree with Matt, the bar has risen substantially in the years since those records were set.
Single best targets are cool, but Agg averages tell the real story from year to year to year.
