Considering Prefit Carbon Barrels for Tikka action

I have a Tikka in 308 (CTR) that I'd like to swap the barrel out to a carbon fiber prefit barrel for a 6mm GT or 6 Creedmoor. I've kind of settled on the brand of Carbon 6 for any number of reasons to include the price, options for barrel format, and a number of other reasons.

If I price the barrel out with all the features I'd like, muzzle threading and so forth, it comes to $755. Kind of on the pricey side for a barrel that were I to order it from Krieger in stainless I could probably get for around $450 to $500. But I want the lighter carbon fiber weight barrel for up and down steep hills and so forth.

Proof are great but cost more and I haven't heard that they are all that much better than other carbon options.

Just putting a note out there to see if there are other options in that price range with muzzle threading, perhaps medium palma contour, that type of thing.

Must be a carbon fiber prefit.

Your most accurate option IMO is your Tikka barrel. If you can source one from Sako
you will not be sorry....just my 2c
For a hunting rifle your choice is fine.

I'm not certain how I would go about doing that, sourcing a carbon fiber barrel from Sako in 6mm. Yes, the 308 barrel on the Tikkas I've fired are incredible.

I'd like to know how to source individual Tikka barrels from the manufacturer. Takeoffs can be hard to find sometimes.

I'm having a 308 factory Tikka rechambered as opposed to a new blank.... Because it's wayyyy cheaper all around and will perform as well as I need it to. They're good barrels

Just installed a Proof Research 300WM pre-fit barrel on a Tikka this week for a customer. It screwed on and headspaced just fine, no issues at all.

What torque setting did you use? I went all the way up to 75 ft/lbs and the bolt is still closing on the No-Go gauge.

If it still closes on a no-go gauge then you have too much head space and you'll need to take a little off the barrel shoulder to lessen it. 75 lb/ft ought to be enough so additional tightening probably won't help. You can also take the time to measure to see what the headspace ought to be before you begin cutting anything. It's always good to know where you stand on dimensions.
