SGT Sherri Gallagher just earned her first NRA High Power National Championship by firing an incredible 2396-161X! Competing over four pressure-filled days, Sherri dropped just four shots out of 240 overall. An amazing 67% of Sherri’s shots were Xs. Congratulations Sherri! ;D

Carl Bernosky was second, just one point behind, with a 2395-140X. Carl and Sherri BOTH shot scores well above David Tubb’s Championship Record of 2389-138X, a record set in 2003. Congratulations to Sherri, Carl and all the outstanding shooters in this year’s competition.

Sherri is now the second-ever female winner of the NRA National High Power Championship. The first female High Power Champion was Sherri’s mother, Nancy Tompkins. It’s all in the family, we guess….

This was an especially sweet victory for Sherri, who had the 2009 Championship slip from her grasp. In last year’s NRA High Power Championship, Sherri was leading the field comfortably, shooting at a record pace, only to suffer a cross-fire which dropped her out of contention for the Championship. That cruel 2009 crossfire is now forgotten as Sherri finally earns the National title she richly deserves.

Congratulations to Sherri, who must have been under incredible pressure with Carl only one point behind. Both Sherri and Carl gave incredible performances. Long Range next!

Congrats on a stunning performance Sherri!
This young lady dropped only four points out of 240rds. - and all were in offhand - two nines and a single 8. She also shot a 200-20x at 600yds. in one of the team matches - simply a phenomenal performance, especially when you consider that she's not had time for any significant practice since last year's Nationals at Perry.

200 with 20x at 600yds ties the record set by Mark DelCotto in 2007 at Perry. I shot the same score as Sherris' mom, Nancy in that match but was creedmoored on x count. I met Nancy that year and she is a very pleasant person.

An awesome performance by a truly awesome shooter. Sherri's had precious little time to practice this past year because she's in contention for the prestigious all-army Soldier of the Year competition, a pretty incredible performance in and of itself, aside from her prowess on the range.

Also worth mentioning, though, that Carl Bernosky, at only one point behind, also shot the match of a lifetime and finished well ahead of the previous national record of 2389. Tough year for all, and well earned kudos for these great competitors.
