Congrats to Carl Bernosky -- 2011 National High Power Champion.

Carl did it again. I think this is his 9th HP championship. Looks like he was shooting an AR spacegun this year -- chambering apparently a 6mm Hagar.

Carl Bernosky has won the 2011 NRA National High Power Rifle Championship with a final Aggregate score of 2393-160X. Rodrigo Rosa finished second, just three points behind, but Carl had a huge edge in X-Count, 160X for Carl vs. 132X for Rosa. Over the course of the past week, while amassing his winning Aggregate, Carl won a number of trophy matches without dropping a point, including the Crowell Trophy Match (200-17X) and the Crescent Cup Match (200-15X). Shooting for Team SOG in 2011, this win marks Bernosky’s ninth National High Power Championship. This was a sweet victory for Carl, as last year he finished just one point behind 2010 Champion SGT Sherri Gallagher. As far as we can tell, Carl’s 2393-160X was the second highest National High Power Championship Agg in history, exceeded only by Gallagher’s 2396-161X record set last year. Congratulations to Carl for his impressive victory!

The top five finishers in the 2011 NRA National High Power Rifle Championship were:
1. Carl Bernosky, 2393-160X
2. Rodrigo Rosa, 2390-132X
3. Brandon Green, 2385-126X
4. Sherri Gallagher, 2383-146X
5. Norman Houle, 2381-114X

Yes way to go Carl. From the recoil in the NRA Blog video, it looks like a 6mm to me. I thought I read that he went to a 6WOA because the Hager was just to much work. A buddy shoots 6WOA and his WOA scores are better than his 6BR scores.

The real story here is Rodrigo Rosa, I've never seen him at the top before and he ran with the BIG DOGS right up to the end. I've been root'n him on since day two. Way to go Rodrigo!!!

Tyler Rico has been the Jr front runner for years, he dropped 104 in one of the sitting matches. He had to have laid 10 on the wrong target. That's tough.

Lots of great stories at a big shoot like that.

Nope, though he flirted with a tubegun in 6.5 Creedmoor last year. All Carl's NM Championship efforts since he "came out of retirement" for the 2007 High Power Championship have been shot with a Holliger-built spacegun chambered for 6HAGAR.

He's won National High Power Match Rifle Champion title 10 times: 1977-1981, 1992, 2000, 2007-2008, 2011.

(If he's gone over to John's 6WOA it's news to me - Carl's a big fan of the 6HAGAR as are many more of us though brass IS an issue, no question. Rumor has it there may be 'factory' 6HAGAR brass available soon featuring a small rifle primer from a major supplier... but that's been the case before & proved to be a chimera.)

Some Great shooting by Carl! Yep, 6 HAGAR again. I shot next to Harrison today at Ft Meade. Hopefully the brass will be made this time. He said it will be small primer pocket. Looks like some 50,000pcs are already spoken for. I sure hope it happens!

OK, here's the deal. Carl had the highest score Nine Times. In 1981 he won the Match Rifle division, but D.I. Boyd, shooting service rifle, had a higher score. Back then, the two divisions were considered "separate but equal". If we think of the High Power Champioship as embracing BOTH Match Rifle and Service Rifle, then Carl has won nine times. If we count his 1981 Match Rifle win as a High Power Championship, then you could say he has won ten times.

I note that, Carl himself, he told us it he had EIGHT during our 2010 interview. That would make it NINE championships with this year's win. SO... Carl is not counting his 1981 performance as National Championship.

The above document shows Carl winning in

1977
1978
1979
1980
1981* (Match Rifle Class; Higher Score in Service Rifle Class)
1992
2000
2007
2008
2011

Congrats to Carl, I just won my very first 300 Yd. match with a 6BR and a Carl Bernosky Stock. He is truly a master at his craft.

What about the bianchi cup stuff. Thats a whole nother world that a lot of people dont know about. The guy might be one of the best multi gun shooters well ever know.
