concelled carry question. Pennsylvania

I have a question regarding concealed carry at my work place. Its a construnction site in allentown Pennsylvania. The company that is running the job has a no weapons policy. But... I say this with all honesty. There have been 8 or 9 shootings within a block or two in the last couple months ive been there. Two across the street in the gas station parking lot in broad day light. Today was the second. This gas station is the direct path in which we have to walk to and from our cars. Do they have legal right to prevent us from protecting ourselves. Im not one for leaving the gun locked in the car as I feel thats irresponsible. Also keep in mind. Im in a union trade so even if they say no they would most likely lay me off for carrying not long after saying its slow.

in the event something bad did happen. i wonder if one could hold the construction company liable for not allowing you to protect yourself and sue them for preventing you to be able to conceal carry and protect yourself

Carry, I would if you need it then who cares about the job! they can make there rules but I am not leaving my life in someone elses hands.

Honestly thats my position too. I carried for a few days after the last one and a coworker noticed it and got funny so I didn't bring it the next day. They all say its just gang members shooting gang members. Like they think logically. All it would take is one construction worker to cut someone off on the way into work and they would take it out on guys leaving.. im not one to cause waves but with a child due any day you start to rethink the value of your life.

A job is not worth your life... Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Carry, when you save yourself or a coworker they will thankful you did. Matt

I don't think gang members are noted for their accuracy.

Yea. My first comment was good thing rifles arent cool in the ghetto or we would all be sitting ducks in the wide open hockey arena. We have to walk right through where 2 people have been hit. Not just shot at.

If I were you I would speak to a union stewart in confidence, then check out the job site rules. On the street its public domain so state and city laws apply. I lived in South east pa. and North east pa. Stroudsburg though not as big is as bad as Allentown. Once you got all legal requirements met go to work and act like you belong there. Looking scared or nervous gives them confidence.
For me I left there for some of these reasons. As a newly reborn christian living in that area made me reevaluate my life. I chose to no longer tolerate the way things have become and left, before I got myself in real trouble.

I would carry and just keep it to yourself.

Those may be the site rules but if you had to use justifiable deadly force, the state laws trump company rules.

You can always spot the good shooters in gangs - they are the ones that roll the gun over on it's left side to shoot.

:)

answer this question. which is worth more your job or your life? besides they won't know unless you have to defend yourself

hi folks,
do you need a license to carry concealled in pa?, that would be my first thought. if not carry until it becomes an issue.

32, Yes you do need a concealed permit in PA, they are issued by the county sheriffs dept. of the county that you reside in. To be caught with a handgun being carried concealed without the permit, you will most likely be rewarded by never getting a carry permit issued to you and it may be a bit harder to pass the backround check when purchasing your next weapon. It's not so hard to get a permit anyways $25, a picture, a 2 week wait, and as long as you haven't been an issue with law inforcement, no PFA's and such, you'll most likely receive it in mail.

Chevy, If it's concealed, no one will know you have it. If you need it...... what is more important? Your life or your job? I believe that everybody on this world has the God given right to protect themselves from harm and there is no power on earth that can take that right away boss or anyone else.

Shouldn't be hard to conceal a SP-101 or small S&W let alone a PPS, Sig 938, Kahr and the like in work clothes. I carry my SP-101 in a DeSantis Nemesis without detection although a top flap on your pocket would help if your shirt rides up. The Bad Guys love when areas prevent firearms! Makes them feel more welcome than an area were people shoot back! ::)

Not just the Government creating more victims but that doesn't mean the POTUS isn't trying, He just signed the UN arms treaty or as what the NRA alert I just got said!

I have successfully carried both a 1911A1 and an .45 ACP FNX (the latter is really huge with it's hi-cap double stack magazine) concealed without being noticed (mostly to prove it could be done, lol), but it isn't easy and the carry probably wouldn't work for your work place situation. I also carry a couple of different (and significantly more compact) 9mms and .45 ACPs much more often, but they too are not always convenient or possible to carry with adequate concealment, so I have developed a main gun/backup gun approach. I always have the backup gun available, while I carry the main gun wherever possible, but not 100% of the time. The backup is a Kel-Tec P3AT .380, and a Ruger LCP .380 would work just as well, and the Ruger LC380 (slightly longer grip then the LCP, one more cartridge capacity) should work fine, too. Either of these can be carried in a pocket with your change and will never be noticed by anyone else, though I prefer to use a leather (Concealment Concepts Holsters made the one I use) or a nylon (I think mine is DeSantis, but I can't recall) pocket holster just to further reduce the odds of it printing and mainly to reduce wear and tear on the firearm as it rides around in my pocket with my change and/or keys and a pocket knife. These little beasts are absolutely simple to conceal, so there is no excuse for not carrying when you desire and your main gun may present a detection problem. While it is an extra expense since you already have the S&W, either the Kel_Tec or the Rugers, or several other pistols in that class, make concealed carry with adequate power extremely easy. The current crop of really compact .380s redefine the phrase, "Don't leave home without it."

I'm with outrider27, get a smaller gun that you can conceal easier. Apparently your lack of concealment is what caused your coworker to see your gun and cause problems. Get a smaller gun, try to stay out of trouble, but if trouble finds you, then be prepared.

100% agree, smaller gun, carry it, and know how to use it should the need arise. Those barbarians in the ghetto have no respect for human life.
