Concealed carry test.

Josh I shoot a lot of pistol and if you shoot pistol at all you will easily pass the test.... I to was like omg I hope I don't screw this up it would be a little embarrassing for me shooting more in a week then everyone else in the class probably shoots in a year combined , plus being ex Leo... The instructor for some reason wanted the people to not shoot a perfect score for some reason some so my wife and myself put our last round in the little target on the top left of the big target just to prove a point.... The guy treated my wife like she's a girl and can't shoot , really pissed her off... Her shot was more centered than mine..lol... Don't sweat it if you shoot the first two parts ( 3-7 yards ) perfect you can miss every shot at fifteen yards and still pass if I remember correctly.... The good thing is if you keep your license you don't have to do background checks when buying a new gun just ge sure and have your license with you.... I keep mine for the travel benefits also..

Train like you fight. Use your Carry Gun for the Qual. If you think you would not pass this test with your carry gun…. Maybe you shouldn’t be carrying it.

Yup! The humility of failing would be BAD. I got deep into pistol shooting, starting in the early 90’s. I built an 80 foot range off my basement with target retrieval, special lighting and exhaust fans. I probably put 30,000 rounds down that range. I got into rifles and the pistol shooting took second chair. I haven’t lost it but I’m a little rusty.

No shooting test here in Arizona. You do have to take a course but do not have to shoot. I took the 4 hour course and just went over legal stuff and helped fill out the paperwork to file for the card.

Just some practice at fifteen yards on a normal pistol target or piece of paper will get it done before you go... No problem , you will be shooting at a full size police silhouette target... If it makes you feel better you can buy them at academy...For the last three years I have been shooting 99 percent shotgun sports which absolutely ruin pistol and rifle skills... After a week of training with a rimfire I got back to half inch groups with the new Tikka.... Run a couple of boxes down range slowly and concentrate on the front sight and trigger pull you will be back at it quickly I had to do the same thing because of the shotgun.... Now anytime I go to the range I take my little Ruger American rimfire trainer and a Glock in rimfire and whatever shotgun or rifle I will be shooting... At the end of the day no matter what I either shoot the rimfire pistol or setup my rest and rifle to stay fresh , it's cheap and effective.... Simply doing that I get a few hours of training a week with both.... Sometimes I even practice with my bipod and rear squeeze bag it can't hurt...

I don't rightly know what is needed in Virginia. I filled out the application and noted that I was a veteran. Bingo, I had a permit. As another member mentioned I don't like pistols but, I know how to use one. I shoot my carry pistol about 100 rounds a year, to keep myself honest.

Practice with your carry gun until you are proficient. My wife and I shoot our handguns every 7-10 days. We train defensive shooting and target shooting. Both of these keep our skills from perishing. 22lr trainers, 9mm carry guns, and of course 357 wheel guns.

I presently carry an old-fashioned revolver in .38. Looking to try a 22 Mag revolver as my carry. S&W sells a nice one but...Over $700 at our LGS.

I got my Texas CHL within six months of it's introduction and had to requalify numerous times over the years. You could probably pass the shooting portion throwing darts. My Texas permit expired shorty after I moved from The Peoples Republic of Austin to Bozeman Mt. All I needed to get my Montana CHL was proof of residency and a DD214 from my hitch in the Army. They figure basic training is enough firearms training. Love this place.
