Component shortage(s)

+1 .... with 5spd and Lapua40X

I cringe every time I see an availability post on forum boards. Especially when the "guest" viewers out number the "users" by double and worse, and the total daily hits can be in the 1000's higher then the user counts. A hoarders informative paradise is how see em.

Just my 2-cents,
Donovan

Agreed! I really wish the folks on these forums and other boards would stop making "availability" posts. It induces hoarders to buy more components that they weren't even needing or looking for. I really wish the forum administrators would temporarilly ban such posts during these panic buying times. Folks can always PM or telephone their friends about the availability of a component that they stumbled upon WITHOUT making a general public announcement which greatly fans the fire and further propogates the panic buying.

With all due respect, I wish the forum boss would consider banning such posts during these difficult times.

It grinds my gears when it's posted this and that is available here or there and it happens to be exactly what I have been needing but can't get it because they won't ship. Or it is sold out in a matter of minutes. I don't shoot large quantities. Maybe 200 a month. I stock enough for about 800-1000 rounds at a time. There is no need for this madness of overstocking components.

If you shoot competitively you need 16 to 24 Lbs of powder and primers and bullets (hopefully from the same lot #) to match to get you through one season, that is not hording. But sounds like it. :'(

That is understandable.

I say post it up. My friends need components. They were of the idea “why buy 5k of bullets when I only shoot 400rds a year”.

Here is my "hoarding" story. Been looking high and low for a pound of Blue Dot to work up some 10mm loads - no luck. Finally found it at an online vendor, but I'm not paying $27.50 hazmat + shipping for a pound of powder! However, they also had 8# jugs of W748 (for my Garands and .223) and 8# jugs of Alliant Promo (really cheap .45 powder.) Got one of each plus 3k LR primers and 3K LP primers to mitigate the hazmat charge. Would have gotten more primers but my credit card was crying "no mas!"

I'm not in dire need of either the 748 or Promo, lack of local availability of Blue Dot made filling out the order my best option. Will take me a while to use this up, but I will eventually.
