A couple of months ago I made a cartridge caddie to make it easier to stage the proper number of rounds for a match, provide a place for the empties, and included an inexpensive timer to keep track of the allotted shooting time. I took it to a match and it worked great.
One of the other shooters saw the caddie and asked me if I would make one for him, and how much I would charge him for it. I did a quick mental calculation of the material cost, the timer cost (from Wal-Mart for $5), my time, and came up with $60. He thought this was a very fair price, and asked me to make him one for this 6mm rounds.
I went home, dug up several cartridge dimensions, and designed three models; namely, for .308, 6mm, 6.5mm, and .223. For variety, I decided to offer several finishes in addition to the one I had made for myself, which was painted red, and made several finished in red, as well as blue, and a pink one – just in case a lady shooter would be interested. I also made several with a natural finish, as shown below. At the last match I sold several of the caddies, and everyone who bought them were very happy with how well the caddies worked for them.
I have a number of these finished and ready to ship, and have posted them in the Marketplace forum under the Tools, Dies, Rests, Reloading Components & Misc section.
