Here's the solution..... Place a paper target in front of the E target. Now if the E-target fails to register a shot, simply look at the paper to confirm or rule out as a miss! Ta-Dah.... Problem solved.

there already is a paper target involved. with the SMT e-target systems I've used, it's even an "official" NRA target with rings and all. But since there is no need to continually swap out the target face between shooters, and holes won't be getting pasted... it won't be quite that easy.
