Compact Hunting Switch barrel rig?

Ernie, thanks for the support. What caliber did you shoot? My hardest decision was to go 223Rem or 22/250. I do a LOT of predator calling and finally decided that most of my critters are shot inside of 200 yards, so that made the 2nd barrel choice much easier. Carl L.

6.5-284
Running that bolt was so stupid fast, I could hardly believe it!
distance was around 500 to 550 yards-not sure which. Just remember that it was over 500 and under 550.

The 6.5x284 is a great choice, in the R8, as the "non action" is long enough that you can seat the bullets out as they should be. I forgot to mention that I am left handed. That did reduce the choice options. Carl L.

Was the R8 you shot synthetic stock or wood? Even if I would/could have afforded the wood stocked models I believe the synthetic stock is better for all my applications. Even though I do not hunt in the rain. Carl L.

Synthetic.
I think it was their tactical stock.
It had a 4-16 S&B with Holland's ART reticle and the barrel also had one of Holland's muzzle brakes.

Okay, I am with you now. I think they call that the "Professional Success" model. Thumbhole stock kind of thing. The only complaint I have heard is that the hand is not in a position to operate the bolt as quickly as with the conventional stock. "I know nothing", so can only parrot what I read on BlaserBuds. What is truly amazing is the return to zero after taking the scope off the barrel, and the barrel out of the stock. Then putting it all together again. Less than 1" POI shift at 200 yards. This I have done, several times, just for something to do. I have a 1.5x6 Swarovski on the 6.5 and a Zeiss 3.5x10 on the .223. The factory 2 pound trigger, in this "liability frightened" world is wonderful. Do I sound like a happy owner.........You Bet. Carl L.
