Colorado Senate Votes to Ban Semi-Auto gun sales

Why wait for the bill to pass. It was introduced by someone recall them immediately. It will not go unnoticed by the rest of the commies.
They are on the Front Range of Colorado, where the majority support sanctuary cities and spending money like crazy. Hell, they have Venezuelan gangs in the Denver area and for months, the Mayor of Denver openly denied it.

It is insane!

My son keeps talking about going to Colorado to live. Loves the scenery, hiking etc. I keep telling him there are other places just as nice with a much better political environment. I refuse to spend money in Colorado, Illinois, California etc. If I have to go into Illinois for something I make sure I fuel up and have food with me before I go. The people have to quit voting these nut cases into office.

Thanks Clay, you ruined my day. At some point it seems like the 2nd amendment will no longer mean anything. Here in Colorado it Denver and Boulder that decide the outcome of elections.

Here in Maine, our Dem dominant house and senate voted for a 72 hour waiting period for the purchase of a new firearm, with some exceptions (law enforcement, jailers, family members). Last week a judge issued a temporary restraining order after numerous parties sued the state. His rational included several serious questions about how this may be in conflict with the 2nd A, mostley slapping down the States position that they are not violating the 2A because it only applies to the ownership of guns in your possession. The judge call that akin to mental jujitsu. I wonder if the addition of the Co exception is to try and skirt that logic.

Our new admin is at this time putting out fires internationally with its favored 'tool' being the threat of cutting off aid or military supply contracts, and/or re-adjusting tariffs on their goods they ship to us. Once these fires are contained, it will them start dealing with States which defy our constitution in a similar manner.
Pam Bondi is already starting.

This is just more lawfare to cause heartburn in the gun community. They know it's illegal but do it anyway because they have the means and want to cause the community to spend money litigating it. It'll eventually get struck down but it will have to percolate through the court system until it finally reaches the SC or gets struck down along the way. It's the tail wagging the dog.

No federal funds, including emergency disaster funds if your state. Doesn't fully comply with the constitution! Power of the purse!
Support this idea.......however, does anyone really think congress would draft, much less subsequently approve, such legislation? I don't have much confidence in that path.

I think our current POTUS has the balls.....the rest of congress, not so much.:(

How many "unsafe handling accidents" last year? Criminal activity will not be stopped by "gun safety classes". This is legislation that is not effective in stopping any criminal use, all it does in inconvenience the sheriff's office, the legal gun owner and cause doubt about ANY LEGISLATION. The gun lobbyist must be at the table during the legislation writing process. They can not be the WLP, Harlon Carter type that are yellers, screamers and insulters. Logic not emotion has a better chance of winning.

No mention of the cost of the "permit" from Sheriff's. I believe any fee to allow you to exercise a constitutional right is contrary to shall not be infringed.
If you cannot afford a lawyer one will be provided. That should be enough precedent.

That method sometimes works but I don't know if I always agree with it. When that happens you're just using citizens as pawns.... Instead they should go directly after the politicians that don't uphold their oath to follow the constitution! Recall them, charge them, sue them.... do whatever it takes to hold them responsible and leave the citizens out of it.

Welcome to the club of State Bans from yours Truly in the Land that used to Be of Lincoln. We have our lovely assault weapon ban now that is crazy encompassing of many things. Too much to even read.

Here in WA we have a 10 day waiting period that is actually more like a 15+ day waiting period with holidays and weekends. I bought a single shot rife on 2-4, my pickup date is 2-20. We have a "assault weapons" ban (whatever that means), a mag limit ban and a whole slew of new laws recently enacted or in the committee stage that are targeted at shutting down FFL's and turning gun owners into criminals. In WA, the governor, the state supreme court and the vast majority of legislators support this assault on the 2nd. I think they know that they are violating our rights but they don't care. They will pass illegal laws then fight it out in the court for years with our tax money unless the US SCOTUS steps in and puts a stop to it.

as usual, the legislation will do nothing to curb crime, it will probably be litigated at the taxpayers expense to find it unconstitutional, it will wend its way through various courts with injunctions and stays ad infinitum, so that no one will know what they are supposed to do but make criminals out of the people who abide by the law if they run afoul by accident. Great, just great...

As a foreigner I often look at the 2nd Amendment to your Constitution and fervently wish we had the right to keep and bear arms in Australia. Then I look at how your bureaucrats, legislatures and courts completely ignore it and make laws and regulations that prevent the keeping and bearing of arms.

My take is that governments all wish to accumulate more and more power and unless the voters throw out governments that go against their wishes then those governments will keep taking away any rights that citizens have until there are no rights left.

The ultimate responsibility for freedom lies with voters.

I look at what is happening here in Australia with the gradual loss of all our fundamental rights (especially freedom of speech) and I talk to my fellow Aussies and it is clear that most people here don't value freedom. If they did they would vote differently.

I'm a conservative and hang out mostly with like minded people who believe in the same principals I believe in. I do take the time however to interact with people outside my normal conservative circles and will admit the ideas they express scare me. I try to help them to see real objective truth (using facts) but it is mostly a waste of time as they have been indoctrinated by the socialist welfare state since childhood - for generations.
