CNC rem 700 actions quality?

They do = it's called a Rem 783 , savage threads , rigid receiver , replaceable bolt head , 90 deg sear , etc
Ive got a 783 I’m working on. I bought it to replace my savage. I do like the 783 but parts are hard to find. So are tools- I hope the 783 survives down the road. I really like the bolt stop and the more “conventional” trigger but you can’t put a jewel in there. Still better than a savage to me. I modified a shilen/ savage barrel to fit in mine to.
Thanks

Jewel , not YET but it's a lot easier to manufacture than a savage . Now if only the demand will increase and people realize it's the next in the Remington rifle design . They're so hung up on a 50 yr old design , the 700 . Sure 5 decades of aftermarket parts , every gunsmith cut their eye teeth on them and they are OK. But come on time is up !

Gary, I wouldn't look to Jewell to make one. I had one of his early Savage triggers, but he said they were too busy to fool with them anymore. I think they are happy with their present situation.

I do really like that bolt up trigger to and not messing with the pins. Next I need to pin the recoil lug, then I will be able to screw on the savage barrel and bed it in the savage stock I have adapted for it. It was a close fit. Oh and I gotta find an ejector and spring and I think an extractor.

What happened to the original extractor and spring ?

received this and a service ticket from remington. receiver has been returned...there is hope!!!

The RR prefix has nothing to do with the primary extraction issue. Remington was aware of it and it has been addressed and corrected through the quality meetings and additional tooling at the fixture where to bolt handle is brazed to the bolt. If his is not exhibiting a connection between the bolt and the receiver, we can bring it in for repair.

receiver was returned to remington.
the returned service ticket said the receiver was cleaned and inspected and returned to me.
the bolt handle still does not contact the receiver.
there is a .040 gap on the slope (where there shud be contact) and .020 clearance axially
obviously the handle was not repositioned

It is well within their specs so why would they change it? They havent made one that touched in a very long time if ever so working per design is very strange to them. Remington is not the right place to fix anything on a remington firearm

Mine had .037 clearance.....’til I sent it to Accurate-Tig. 10 days from the flat rate box was dropped in the mail until I put it back in the receiver. It doesn’t make sense for me to do anything else.

If you’re measuring the bolt/rear raceway gap, it’s probably not the same as the front raceway clearance either. There’s a reason why PTG seems to sell a bunch of bolts in different diameters.

just received my first new cnc rem 700 .470bf ss action and was wondering just how precision the new ones are. any info appreciated. thanks greg
I have 2 RR actions, a 6mm creedmore and a 6.5x47 lapua
both are excellent shooters with bartlien barrels
both have accu tig fixed bolts and custom stocks
set them up in the lathe and checked for runout, both had less than I could measure

I purchased a brand new 700 long action with a RA prefix serial number. Stripped this down. Action face was out .0002". Full contact on bolt lugs. Bolt face was spot on. Action threads were out .002" so I single point cut them. I have had some custom actions that were not this good. Also the barrel and chamber were very concentric with good finish for a factory barrel. (30/06) The bolt has very good primary extraction. Bolt raceway measured .702" and bolt measured .696". I bushed the rear of the Bolt. Also bushed firing pin and turned to .068". Recoil lug was within .0002" and I pinned it to the action. Converted this to a 6.5x284 hunting rifle.
