CLR for hard carbon removal

Anyone using CLR (Calcium, Lime, Rust remover) to clean hard carbon from throat?

I have used CLR on a muzzle brake and that stuff cleaned the brake as new. Used a 50/50 solution
for 30 minutes, the carbon flaked off. I will try it in the throat area but will make sure it will get a
good cleaning. I had tried a lot of other methods to no avail.

I've not tried it on a rifle barrel, but we use a lot of it at work for rust removal. It will significantly discolor / etch certain alloys, so I would make sure to clean it above and beyond afterwards. At work, We use a very hot water wash with a water soluble rust preventative added after the CLR.
Another downside, at least to me, this stuff stinks to high heaven

First few patches through my Bench Guns are CRL soaked, from there I patch it out with brake clean and then onto Wipe out / Patch out. Like a previous poster mentioned a 50/50 mix in my ultrasonic cleaner cleans up my muzzlebrakes like the day they were made.

Also works great in an ultrasonic cleaner to clean cases, just add a pinch of Dawn, then rinse in distilled water.

Use the lemishine we use for wet tumbling... It has a bunch of uses.. I use it in place of clr around the house..

As stated my borescope tells me my methods are working, if that doesn't work for you then so be it !! The longer you let the carbon sit the more difficult it is to get out. YMMV
