Closed foam backer for collapsible target

Albany Mountain

I am looking to make a collapsible about 4 foot x 4 foot that could fold up for easy transport on/in my vehicle and wondering if a closed cell sheet would have any lifespan being shot at. I'm anticipating many shots in a 12 inch area. It would be nice to be self healing and being white/buff in color. Any ideas?

Get the chloroplast sign material. It is light, you can staple your targets to it, it is inexpensive. You can get lots of it free after elections! It is not really self healing, but it will hold up pretty well.

I have used that plastic stuff 4 target backers...If you can spray paint it w a lt grey or off white primer..It is less reflective..I find that a real distraction on sunny days...mike in ct

Kenny, if you use chloroplast sign material, do not glue it. You will need to staple targets to it. When the glue dries it bend the plastic. Biggest problem is a frame to hold it. Easy to make but bulky.

The colored pushpins/thumbtacks work well on the chloroplast backer material as well. Local ARA matches use both on PVC frames to make replacing the backer & targets quick & easy.
