Cleaning your barrel with a nice $400 stock

The bore guides don't seal off like center fire chambers . So do you take the barreled action out of your $400 composite or wood stock every time you clean the barrel ??

I suppose that would be one option, but personally do not see anyone doing this at a match. You really only need 1-2 drops on a patch when cleaning so there shouldn't be much excess to go astray.

No, it's not an issue if you don't slop things up with excess cleaning product when cleaning (see Don's post above). On an average weekend competing my two primary rifles will get their barrels cleaned 3-9 times between the two of them depending on how many matches I shoot. One of the rifles has been in service between two owners since 2012 or so with no issues. The other has been in service since 2017, again, no issues and my stocks cost way more than $400 each, and that doesn't take into consideration the cost of pillar/bedding jobs on them!
You don't take the barreled action out of the stock during a match to clean a barrel, which for most competitors means cleaning the barrel after every card.

No, before tapering down the rear opening is a large diameter so it does not squeeze anything out of the patch or brush. I do lay a rag between it and the stock just in case of a drip, and you could use a waterproof material there as well.

Go to Home Depot and purchase some high-quality painting drop cloth. The kind you need has one side which is absorbent; the other side is not.

Cut a piece that will completely cover your stock. Place the absorbent side facing up, where the cleaning rod will ride over the stock. It helps to secure the cloth with a binder clip under the trigger guard to keep it from moving off the stock.

Replace it periodically as needed. One small roll should last you several years and provide complete protection for your stock.

Well,
Ya don't use so much goop that it drips off the patch
dribble your goop onto a PATCH that is already staged on the jag or brush
'and already screwed onto your cleaning tod
then slide into the bore guide
---
By doing this, I dont even get my chamber wet
Let alone a chance of getting anything in the action or on the stock
---
I have seen some people do such things as
: Dunk their brush into the bottle of Hoppes -????? (Really)
Transfer your cleaning solution to a plastic dribble bottle or eyedropper type bottle

Sinclaire International (now Brownell's) used to sell a padded cloth sleeve that slid over the buttstock to keep that stuff off of stocks. Not sure if they still sell them. I didn't see them when just looking - but Protektor makes one - and can be found at MidwayUSA for around $20.00-$30.00

I may have misread, but I think the OP's concern was solvent getting past the end of the bore guide (before the chamber) and falling down into the stock bedding/trigger area.
Yes that was my real concern , there is no way to stop the solvent from running down where the magazine cut is .
