Cleaning Routine (For Vudoo)

I while back I picked up a Vudoo V22 along with the Vudoo bore guide. My plan is to do some work testing how clean a barrel needs to be to shoot best.

My problem started with the design of the Vudoo bore guide as it does not remain straight when in the action. Obviously the part that is inside the action is straight, but since it protrudes out the back of the action so far, it takes on a bend that impedes the effectiveness as to why I bought the bore guide in the first place.

I'm wondering if any of you have the same problem and what did you do about it? I'm thinking of just cutting it shorter so it does not stick out so far behind the action.

Second question is your ultimate accuracy cleaning routine?

How often do you clean and how exactly do you ultimate accuracy guys clean rimfire?

Some guys say they never clean their rimfire, while others clean frequently.

My Vudoo shoots okay, but it just seems like it wants to shoot better somehow. Maybe its my Tuna Can adjustment, maybe ammo/lot selection, or maybe its just the cleaning routine...

Ideas?

I prefer using VFG cleaning felts with BoreTech C4 carbon remover. I turn the VFG jag down some to give it more clearance in the bore. I clean every 200-250 rounds or if the rifle isn’t going to be shot for several weeks.

For shooters serious about accuracy, it shouldn't be a question. For casual .22LR shooters, plinkers, and hunters, cleaning regularly may not be an issue.

To compare with those who never clean their rimfire bores, serious competitive shooters clean their bores regularly. They do it in 3P (Olympic-style) shooting and rimfire benchrest shooting. It's doubtful if any experienced and recognized shooters serious about accuracy will advocate for not cleaning regularly. If it makes a difference at 50 or 100 yards, it will show even more further out.

If that's not persuasive enough, the rifle manufacturers themselves -- including Vudoo, Anschutz, Walther, and Bleiker -- recommend regular cleaning.

While there's there are many products that will do the job, how often to clean is something that the shooter can determine because it's not always the same for every barrel. If no difference is ever observed between regularly cleaned bores and those that aren't, the shooter may have room for improvement in ammo selection, if nothing else.
