Cleaning patches.

The Forum Boss is right.

The triangle patches are sweet.I haven't had a patch split or have the rod pierce the patch since I have switched.
I use the same size for 6mm and 7mm ,but, you do have to try different jags.

Another vote for Pro Shot patches.

Actually my favorite was Hoppe's synthetic patches in bulk quantities from Midway. These patches never left threads in the action or barrel and held in place on a pointed jag without penetration. However about a year or two ago they stop matching them and went to a woven fabric which comes apart if you try to use them with a pointed jab. They also deposit a lot of threads in the action and barrel. Just another "improvement" by people who apparently don't clean rifles much.

One of the forum members suggested Pro Shot patches so I tried them - they work well but I'd still be using Hoppe's synthetics if they hadn't apparently discontinued them in bulk packs.

some jag/patch combinations require you to pierce the corner edge of the patch (rather than center) in order to get the full use out of your jag and to let the patch go through.

Lots of nice scenery.
Gotta admit as a young lad I was drug through a lot of fabric stores by my mom and two sisters, probably doesn’t bother me as much as some manly men, lol. And, when it seems I may know more about sewing than some of the folks in there.

Heck I made a quilt on my great grandmas tredel Singer one winter, I was about 13-14. Not bragging, but I can cook better than a lot of women, especially my ex.
I have my own sewing machine. When I was younger, I used it to sew military creases in my uniforms, shorten pant cuffs make curtains and furniture covers for my motor home. Once you learn to use a pattern, you can make anything. And I do cook here every day. But that's because my wife of 53 years is a worst cook than your first one. She can make coffee and deviled eggs, but stays away from the kitchen, except to clean it.

I've been using Kleenbore because they have 1 1/4" square ones that I like for 223.
I've used a ton of Pro Shot in the past.

I use the Pro Shot patches. For .25 and .26 caliber I use 1 1/8 inch square for the loose patch and 1 3/4 square for the tight patch. Center spear.

Well, I tried ordering some more cleaning patches from Sinclair Int last week. I LOVE the Sinclair brand 1 3/4 inch for the 6 / 6.5 and .284 and the 2 1/4 inch for 30 cal on up. They worked PERFECT.

NO JOY Both part numbers are discontinued. So. I got their "new" 1 3/4 inch patch and there was no replacement for the 2 1/4. They said to get the new 2 1/2 inch.

Well, the 1 3/4 inch patches are JUNK. They are too thin and are made of a woven material called "crosslock" that when the going gets a little tuff the jag simply pushes through the patch and leaves it in the BBL with the rod sticking through it!!

The 2 1/2 are actually a nice patch...tan on one side and white on the other and thick, but I have to use my 6mm rod and jag to get it to go through my 338. Can not get it through my 30...even with the 6mm jag. Also, that little rod bends a lot in my 338. Actually, I just put my 338 jag on with the 1 3/4 and ran it through my 30. it fit OK, but I would like a little bigger patch

Anyone have a suggestion on where to get something like I had?

Sorry for the rant, but I have been using those same patches for many, many years!!

Tod

If you want to try something new and wonderful, try the VFG felt bore pellets from Brownells. You buy them by bore diameter and the adapter and voila! No more cutting patches to fit or trying to find the right jag that will work. I have been using them for years and to me there is noting better for bore cleaning. Just my .02 cents.

I use Pro shot and the triangle one's, either work great. The triangle one's seem to work slightly better in the small caliber 17 & 20's, for me anyway.
