Since you plan to try something new, you might give the Boresmith triangular patches a try. They have some advantages. I use these as well as conventional patches.

Another tip -- experiment with different jag sizes. I got good results with a bigger patch on a 6mm jag in a 6.5mm bore.
JSH, are you sure your going to the fabric store just for patches?I got one of the rolling fabric cutters years ago, Fiskars.
Measure your favorite patch thickness.
Shower, clean up, trim facial hair, comb hair (in my case all three dozen of them) a splash of favorite cologne (not Hoppes #9 this time), make sure and clean under nails. Now that your ready go to the fabric store and measure the thickness of several bolts of white flannel. Find some that if not the same as your favorite patch, go thinner.
All the clean up and prep work to go to the store will pay dividends to the ladies there. Most are more than happy to help.
The rolling cutter and a straight edge you can make a pile of patches in just a few minutes. I bought several bolts of white flannel at a damaged freight out fit that had slight water damage in the late 80’s. I have all but used it up. Thread count will determine thickness most times. Lower thread count are not as tough as the higher.
FYI the edge with factory finish, cut these for shot gun patches.
I still buy a few 17 and 20 patches, but I darn sure won’t run out.
I did try T shirt scraps, I just hate them. Another cheap source can be laundry services that do bed linens, most will have flannel sheets.

I think i use a 270 jag and 2” round patches on 30cal. I have 30 cal rods dedicated. I do pierce them a little off center when the barrel is pretty dirty and they are kinda tight but work goodWell either my jag is larger or ? I use the 1 3/4 patch for the 30 cal and it fits fine, not sure I could get a 2" patch through it. I do use the Park Hale jag
What type chamber cleaner are you talking about? Most folks i know use a 45cal bore mop. Pma sells an action cleaning kit that works real goodI use the triangle patches and their special brush together. They work great. Allows you to soak the bore with solvent and brush while doing so.

After soaking for 15 min, I then use the correct size Pro Shot patches for final cleaning.
I would like to see someone make an AR type chamber cleaner, for other calibers besides .22 and .30.
What would the turtle neck on there do for you?I do have a kit similar to that. Can't remember the name at this moment. What I am talking about is this.

I'd like to have one for each caliber.
It cleans the space between the chamber and the locking lugs as well as the locking lugs. I might have the nomenclature wrong, but I am sure you know what I am trying to describe. What would the turtle neck on there do for you?
Yes i thought thats what you meant. Id put that action cleaning kit from pma or one of those from benchrite in there, but i cant think of a time youd need a wire brush to wipe grease out. The AR has a brush like that because of the carbon buildup of the design- its not really needed on a bolt actionIt cleans the space between the chamber and the locking lugs as well as the locking lugs. Anyone have feedback on Dewey patches?
Okay, I'm not that smart! If something say for 30 cal that is what I get so I'll try one for the 270 and the 2" patch and see if it does better!! I do and love it, it allows me to stroke the patch back and forth and the patch stays put.So is nobody using Parker Hale style jags? Why or why not?
Lots of nice scenery.JSH, are you sure your going to the fabric store just for patches?
