Cleaning media

Agree 100%. However the shipping can be costly. I have found the cheapest place to buy it is Zoro and you get free shipping with a $50 order. I use the 20/40 sieve size as it doesn't get caught in the flash holes like the 12/20 does.

Jepp2, thanks for posting that link to Zoro. A friend and I ordered two bags and got the free shipping. Hope the 20-40 works without getting in flash holes.

Every time I've tried to pitch brass polish in a tumbler I end up with a mess. Either I'm using to much or not enough. I typically use cc before sizing & on all my pistol brass then SS after sizing on all my rifle brass, I have a large RCBS media separator & spin the crap out of my brass then I use a cheap dehydrator to dry my brass & I've never had issues with pins sticking.

To help with the dust put a couple static cling sheets in the tumbler and it will take most of the dust out.
Thanks, oneriver! After reading every one of these posts, yours was the one that worked for me. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. I went whole hog and used 4 dryer sheets...I know, radical steps for radical results. Results? No dust what-so-ever.

12 years in the commercial brass business.
fine ground corn cob sold as "blasting media"
for truely impressive results add some nufinish car polish.
1/2 the price of brass polish.
This is exactly the formula I’ve used for years. I don’t clean my brass often but when I do, this is what I do.

Add a cap full or two of mineral spirits it will remove carbon and wake up the polish.
The mineral spirits will flash off in short order. Been doing this to 25+ years.

I have used corn cob for 30 years and add Flitz Tumbling Polish. I need some new media and placed an order with Zoro. Shipping is $5 so it works out to $1 a lb.
Ordered today and shipped today! Now that’s fast

I have used treated corn cob for years with no issues, I tried walnut but the dust was horrible, Eric Cortina has a Youtube video on using medium grain rice. What the hell, I tried it, it's definitely OK but will also stick in some cases and flash holes.
