Cleaning brass

They say cleaning brass is a waste of time, doesn’t make you shoot better. They are probably right, but it makes me feel better.
I dont mind the 3 minutes it takes me to dump brass in the vibrator or the 3 minutes to get it out.
i dont feel any different when my brass is nice and shinny but i really believe crud on neck: shoulder may affect my measurements so thats what i clean for accuracy loads. generally 25 rnds or less. i use to use steel wool by hand but now i use scotchbrite with case in bat drill
it is faster and easier. for high volumes i use vibratory tumbler. when im loading my accuracy loads i dont want to wait for them to tumble. mabie im not to good of a planner

What color scotch-bride are u using? Red is equal to 180. Grit, Grey is 400, and white is for polishing.

Washing my car dont make it use less gas but I like it clean, same thing for my
brass.
A clean car reduces the friction of the airflow increasing fuel mileage, It's barely noticeable but makes a difference nonetheless. If you clean the vehicle especially if you wax it you will create a smoother surface for the outside air to flow around the car, which results in better aerodynamics. After all, when automakers conduct wind tunnel testing on their vehicles, they’re usually spot-less.

I clean the brass to get everything to the same point, just like when I size my 300 PRC brass I use the same die for every piece and same diameter mandrel when setting the neck tension. I want everything to be consistent, I can't make everything consistent when it comes to getting dirty, But I can make everything consistently clean.

I wonder how many gallons of gas I've wasted almost 50 years. I bet I drank more $$$ up in whiskey in 1 year when I was a drinker.

There's no need for me to look at it under a microscope when my ES is sub 6 fps for my 6BR. I'm not a metallurgist.
I don't clean brass at all and have had an ES of 0. (sample size was 2 shots and it only happened once that I can remember) So, I guess that statement needs a lot more definition and data to be meaningful.

I clean my brass every firing and have back-to-back shots at the same velocity virtually every range trip, Doesn't mean a whole lot as it is not consistent. I've had strings of 5 shots be 1 fps apart and 10 shot strings 2 fps between the string. For my 6BR I sometimes change the load throughout the day depending on the weather.

Pretty impressive stuff. Do you have some targets you can show. I love small groups
