Cleaning a rifle is like cleaning fish.

I don't shoot matches, and I have no pictures to offer because I don't have a bore scope which I know is sacrilege these days. Therefore, this post probably has no value to the modern-day shooter. Perhaps it has no value except to me. ;)

I clean on a regularly basis about 50 to 60 rounds with a simple solvent, no harm (Dewey) bronze brush, and cotton flannel patches using a high quality (Dewey) single piece rod and a Possum Hollow bore guide. If you shoot enough precision shooting, keep good records, and pay attention to your targets you will soon learn what works for you.

I do agree with you; shooting is way more fun than cleaning - in fact - is it a necessary evil that is why over the years of experimentation I've developed a method that minimizes the agony. It seems to work since I am able to meet my performance goals, my diminishing skills notwithstanding.
