Cleaning a Jewell trigger

Lighter fluid is common Naphtha, available at any hardware store.

That's what you want to use.

I always thought there was a touch of kerosene in the naptha to moderate the burn rate for lighters. The kerosene is left behind when the naptha evaporates providing a light lubricant behind.

If flushing with lighter fluid and it does not work, do not hesitate to take it apart.

I found a 1/2 kernal of N133 powder in one of my Jewells, flushing did nothing. Only when I dis-assembled was I able to remove it.

Colman Lantern fuel is good substitute for Ronson Lighter fluid. Both evaporate with out leaving any film. BrakeKlean, and acetone will also work. Some if not all are bad for you use heavly nitrile gloves and don't breath the fumes or get it in your eyes.

Ok found some Ronson lighter fluid .Do I fill a small container with the fluid and drop the trigger in it and soak it over night ? That means I have to remove the trigger from rifle . Is it useless to squirt some in it ?

still the best way to clean one is to get the drawing of your trigger and take it apart clean everything and put it back together
Then your sure it really clean.

Do a search on this forum. I have posted pics of a Jewell with a sideplate removed. They are very simple. Take it apart, No gremlins will jump out, Sand your sideplates on a flat surface with fine grit wet or dry paper. Clean the other inside parts with lighter fluid and reassemble. Adjust per the Jewell instructions.

I flush the Jewell trigger group out with it still on the gun, but out of the stock. Works every time for me. JUst flood the trigger group well from the top and let it air dry.
