Cleaning a Harrell’s thrower

What do you gents use to polish and clean your thrower? Mine in starting to get a little brass tarnish.

I like the tarnished look but Flitz metal polish and a clean rag will work wonders and will leave a protective finish on it that will slow down future oxidation.

Dont clean the inside. It takes a long time to get that graphite layer that makes it throw good. Nevr dull or brasso will fix the brass
Yeah I never wipe down the inside workings of any of my throwers. That stuff even helps stop the static !!!!

I took mine apart and cleaned and lubed the bearings. Huge mistake! Run it dry, T rust me.
I wipe the inside down with a used dryer sheet once a year. 0000 steel wool with a bit of wax will make the metal look like new.

Yeah I’m only worried about the brass that can be seen, that I touch when adjusting.

When i get a new thrower ill run about 8lbs of powder thru it before i even try to use it. Go thru powder on a bunch of adjustment ranges

I was in a hurry when I posted this as always work, work, work. Guess I should have stayed this one is well used and very naturally lubricated with powder residue. All I want to clean is the brass etchings and adjustment bar.

Yeah I had to figure it out also ....

My attitude its that used stuff will show use ...
It’s pristine and was when I got but it’s in my loading building and you know how brass is it will tarnish. Just wanting to shine her back up. Figured somebody had done it before and knew the best thing to use that won’t gum it up.

Yes, thats the stuff George. Other products might work also, but I have not used more than a couple. You can put it inside necks too, it will reduce seating force better than about anything out there, but usually doent win out on target for me.
