Cleaning 10/22

Those are nice rifles. Nicely finished receiver and bolt compared to Rugers castings.
They have a "Last Shot Hold Open" feature built into the magazines. That HO feature
uses part of a Hold Open idea I patented about 20 years ago.

TC may have stopped making them, not sure?
They quite making them a number or years ago. I still have one in the box and unfired outside the factory.

For a while, AMT made a copy of the 1022 that they called the Small Game Hunter II. I bought one and used it when the Chevy Truck Sportsmen's Team Challenge was first starting out. It was stainless steel with a poly stock and a medium/heavy sporter barrel. There were four or five guys in my area back then that had them, and they all shot well. This was when Clark's heavy barrel was the only thing you could do for a stock 1022, but that list of accessories and upgrades grew exponentially. I still have mine and still shoot it occasionally. It's a fun rifle.

Easiest way to clean a 10/22 sell it to someone else and buy a quality 22......I know guys who put $1k to get those rifles to shoot with a $400 savage, and then brag about what a great rifle it is.....it is a great pinker for a 12 year old......

Ok bore snake the barrel, spray the bolt & action with brake cleaner, a little oil and your good to go.....
That is very debatable,I shot a factory 10/22 at Ara indoor nationals, you can look up my scores. I would throw some cash down that a $400 savage can't hang with it

The cynics would say 10/22s are the Harley of rimfires. You simply need to replace 70+% of the parts to make them competitive with a quality bolt gun.

Gunsmither Tools makes and sells several specialized tools to help in the cleaning of a 10/22. He also makes a fixture for drilling the hole in the rear of the receiver. I drill almost every 10/22 I build.
