A 22-250 has more than enough umph to put down a yote, even at extended ranges! A friend of mine took a yote at 500+ yds. with Winchester 55gr. ballistic silvertips. The dog ran about 20 yds. and piled up! This is a highly frangible bullet that wasn't carrying an extreme amount of velocity at that distance but, still got the job done. John is an exceptional shot. Now his son prefers to take them at that distance with a .300 Weatherby Mag and that thing just makes a mess of em!

Thanks Tyler - those two dogs are pretty typical of the coloration here in central Washington. They sure do have nice pelts once it gets a little cool.

The big dog that's now a rug was shot at pretty close range, 50 yards maybe? It's been a while. The smaller one in the top field photo was at about 110 - 150 yards as I recall. Checked the range with a laser rangefinder after shooting the dog, but I didn't write it down anywhere. Knew it was relatively short range and I just needed to hold a little low on the 'yote to make a good hit.

The .25-06 stays zeroed at 300 yards, so she hits a little high at 100 & 200 yards, but not very low at 400 either. Pretty much hold on hair out to 400 with deer, sure makes life easy for the hunter/shooter.
