clean bore conditioning for moly bullets

Just curious what you all use to condition your clean bore to shoot moly coated bullets other than shooting up about $5. worth of good bullets powder and primers. Currently I run a greased up patch with moly powder rubbed in through the bore until it feels slick but I'm wondering if there is another better way? Thanks !

Testing verifies all...anybody else hear an echo?

I'm a certifiable cast bullet nut job.If I dry mop the bore on one of the rigs here, considering we have an indoor pistol range, and 50,100 meter ranges available 24-7....

I can count positively on that first shot(dry mopped) hitting a touch high.Obviously, don't do that if I was gonna shoot,to include the dry bore, shot within a "group"....if you get what I mean.

We(cast bullet d**ks),live and breath, lube. You just gotta test to understand how any particular brrl condition effects a "group".Nobody can answer how your rig is going to show up on paper WRT brrl prep/conditioning.Back to regular programming.Good luck with your project.

I've been using moly for a long time. I like it a lot and my bore scope tells me I've never had a problem. You need to start with a completely clean barrel after you are satisfied that the barrel is broken in. Don't break in the barrel with moly. Now, Midway use to sell a really thick liquid designed to condition a barrel for moly. I still have a little but am about to run out.. You put it on a patch and run a couple thru the bore, back and forth, until the barrel is fully coated. The last time I checked with Midway, they had stopped carrying that product and I haven't been able to locate any anywhere. It worked really well... While searching around trying to find that product, I found a product that is made by Lyman (usually in the Moly coating section of a catalog) called, "Super Moly Bore Cream" ...I bought a jar but I haven't tried it yet.. Its made specifically for coating the bore before shooting with moly coated bullets. I believe Midsouth has it but I did not check before answering your question here,.... That's what I will use when the liquid from Midway runs out,...You might consider that...I believe it will do the job just as well...

Hmmmm, I see that you do enjoy the intrigue of the fine art of casting and the need for proper most effective lubes. With jacketed moly coated bullets all is quite predictable as its just a matter of coating the bore sufficiently in order to get the group to close, 15 shots in my 30 will do it but it's costly. Thanks
