Carlsbad on here does fantastic bolt bushing jobs on Remington style stuff and grimstod for savage bolts.

That's what I've heard. Was the main reason I joined this site was to get ahold of carlsbad and have him do my 700 bolt. He was recomended to me by several others on a another forum. Bolt was shipped off yesterday morning to him!

I sure hope so. I've never ran into this issue before. Then again, I don't own or shoot a whole lot of SA small primer case cartridges either.

It's cratering on everything, from beginning to top end loads, and I've pierced 3 primers so far out of 100 rounds. I decided after that to find someone to bush the bolt. Gre-Tan was going to be my first option, but he's not accepting any new work so I was recomended to Carlsbad or the guys at LRI.

Can't wait to get it back and start shooting again...

I've never shot the VV540 but.my understanding is it pressures up faster than the 100 series. Bolt bushing for a .223 and 6br pays off in the long run. The case capacity of your brass could also be a contributor.

If I get time I will go into Quickload and run my numbers with that powder just for the heck of it.

I was piercing WSR primers in my .223 FTR rifle with virgin Starline brass in a Savage action. It was a fairly stout load of H4895.
Grimstod, another forum member on here bushed my bolt and it's all been good since.

After the initial firing I did exterior and interior weighing, which told me my H20 capacity was on the lower than most brass that I've shot in it.

My point is sometimes there can be more than 1 contributor. You'll get this figured out. There is an excellent search function on this site and the most knowledgeable shooters/reloaders that are breathing.

I need to re-up my membership.....going to do it now.

I have the base quickload numbers for N540 and H4895. Not set up for my actual H20 case capacity, but I am using Lapua brass. I'm also using H4895 with the starline 556 brass at 24.5g right at 3000fps.

This is with N540/75g ELDM/28" barrel/2.5" COAL with Lapua Brass.
Vihtavouris data online calls for 25.8g as MAX at 2960fps from a 25" tube. Granted my pierced primer at 25.6g did 3086 so it's definitely a hot load, but that's just ladder testing and finding velocity/pressure in my rifle. I'm not going to load test around there. Im thinking 24.6-24.8g around 2975fps is going to be the ticket.

I understand that, however at the same time how does pay pal know what you are purchasing or selling? They dont...I've never sold or purchased firearms or ammo, but things like reloading bullets, brass, bipod, scopes, yes I have, and never had any issues.

So back to my original question, how does one pay or receive funds on this site? Check, cash, or USPS MO?

Physical, secured forms of payment are common. Some of us also do use various forms of electronic payment, pending agreement from other party. However, many scams have been propagated by up front requirement of PayPal FF payment only, Zelle, Venmo, which offers no protection and for any gun stuff even GS will offer no protection if the ask what its for. There have been some high dollar scams on this site, but not because of the site. Simply because there are a high concentration of people here who buy $2K scopes, $4K rifles, etm and occasionally a scammer gets through.

My own account was hacked 2 years ago, someone posted from my account (paid member of many years) a scope for a stupid low price, another member started PM'ing "me" about it and thats how I found out. I was at work and got a ton of email notifications, and I immediately contacted forum boss and the issue was resolved same day. Thats what I pay a membership for.

No worries. I do have a question how to purchase or sell though.

I currently only have a pay pal account that, and obviously use it elsewhere to buy and sell things. Here, I see it is not allowed or tolerated at all, either FF or GS. So how does one go about paying or receiveing funds? Check, money order, cash? I mean who even has a checkbook or money orders these days, if thays the case, it's 2024? Pay pal is protected with GS the same or more than a check or a money order at that, and it's instant for both parties involved.

And also, do I have to wait 30 days before buying or selling as a silver member still? Still not exactly sure on that either. I have read the rules, but maybe I missed it in plain English...

I still have 2 checking accounts and use them here quite often. Then there are money orders, USPS MO, Cashiers Check. It's that easy.
