The knowledge base on this sight is SOOOOO deep it is more then worth the $50 a year to be a gold member. It also ads a layer of security on the classified because most scammers won't pay $50 for an account to scam with.
I was/am also a longtime member of LRH, Long Range Only, Nosler, Predator Masters, Rimfire Central, and Snipers hide. So I get plenty of knowledge.

Plus, I'm not a newbie when it comes to loading and shooting. Been loading for close to 30 years, and shooting 1K for 25 years. Handload and set up guys rifles to 1K on the side, shoot local PRS/MOA and long range matches, even won a few. Have pretty extensive knowledge of both exterior ballistics and terminal ballistics. Been around over 200+ elk killed so I kinda have a good idea what works and doesn't.

Can still learn something new everyday though!

There are 2 sites on your list I no longer visit due to the 'intellectual clutter'. I'll not mention which as it's simply my opinion and worth nothing to anyone else.
And the rest of your list I've never visited.

Huh. You guys have me thinkin'. Re-evaluating my viewpoint.
I only visit 2 firearms sites. I presumed they were both average, just based on my knowledge level and what I see on both sites.

Perhaps I simply don't know what I've been 'not' missing......
Out of those listed, the knowledge base on Snipers hide, rimfire central, LRH, and LRO is top tier, with the other two falling below them considerably in my own opinion anyway. A lot of new guys and or just average guys who like to shoot, more so than extensive shooting and knowledge geared towards certain subjects. Me I'm just a straight bolt action, long range guy personally. That's what I've always been into since day one, and just went down the hole and never strayed to far from it. Everything I do their is then transfered over to long range hunting. Use the same rifles and same loads/bullets.

Have 2 private ranges at my disposal, one down the road a mile that goes to 500 where i do most my load testing from 100-300, and another 15 minutes away that goes to 1400, or really 2K if you wanted to, that I do most of my long range shooting, setting up rifles, and confirming dope charts. But, we have steel set up from 300-1400 every 100 yards. That's where I like to be on my free time, my zen box...Also where I do most of my coyote hunting.

It’s $60 now, just renewed a few days ago. I have zero issues with paying that, if they had another higher level like say ”Elite” for more I would pay that.

I am on here daily… Great site, great people with awesome information!

Well. I'd think someone such as yourself would be happy to pay for a site membership to sell/buy given your extensive knowledge.
I'll be interested in your posts in the next 30 days or so. Apparently I've much to learn.

I just built this 223 Wylde off my old early 70s R700 222. Had it for 20 years bought it from a friend's grandpa when I was in high school. Was mainly used as a calling rifle for dogs and ground squirrels. Shot 40g vmaxes at 3500fps with IMR4198 into 1/4-1-3 MOA pretty regularly. But I've always wanted a long range fast twist 223 for the last 10 years or so and finally made it happen. With the way component prices are, it just made sense. I also got into the LR 22 Rimfire game and built a full blown CZ457 with a Bartlein and shoot out to 500 with it, but that's for another post...

Anyway back to the 223 trainer build. Has a Greyboe Renegade M5 stock, a Bartlein 28" Heavy Varmint 8 twist, oversize bolt knob, Timney set at 1.5#, Leupold MK4 20 MOA base and rings, Leupold MK4 6.5-20x. Custom throated to seat 2.510" with the 75g ELDMs. Shoots 3000-3050 fps at 1/3 MOA with N540. But I'm having issues with cratered and pierced primers, so sent the bolt off to Carlsbad this morning to have him bush it.

The rifle weighs 15# and is set up the same as my 6 Creed and 7-300 Win Mag that weigh 15# and 16#. Only difference is they both have McMillan A5s, and the 6 Creed has a 27" BRUX 8 twist rem varmint with a 4 port brake, and the 7-300 has a 28" Bartlein 9 twist rem varmint with a 4 port brake. I shoot the 108g ELDMs at 3025fps from the 6 Creed with H4350 in Peterson brass, and the 180g ELDMs at 3100 from the 7-300 Win Mag with H1000 in necked down Nosler 300 Win Mag brass.

My 7-300 is my big game rifle, 6 Creed is my dog rifle, and the 223 will be a 1K trainer, PRS/MOA match rifle and occasional dog rifle.

Ladder test at 300 with N540/75g ELDM. Blue ink was couple days prior and stopped at 25g due to pierced primer with a CCI 400. Stopped there and decapped all 400s and loaded with thicker cupped Rem 7.5s and went back out (black ink) and made it up to 25.6 before again piercing a primer. 5 of the 6 shots went into a 1" group at 300 so definitely showing promise with a new barrel and fireformed lapua brass. Going to play around 24.6-24.8 at around 2975fps. Looks like a decent and safe spot to be, especially when temps get to the 100s here in next couple months.

Nice setup,…welcome to the Forum.
Try 450’s or Br4’s they have thicker cups. 400’s won’t take those pressures well, bushing the bolt will help but 400’s weren’t designed for high pressure loads.

P.S
I’m by Lewiston Idaho, I use to work in Hermiston years ago for Myrick Chrysler/Dodge

And here is the 7-300 Win Mag with a target of opportunity at 625 yards during buck season. It wears a 5.5-22x NXS. This rifle shoots amazing. Under 1" at 300, and anyday of the week it will shoot 4-6" at 1K and 6-8" at 1200 laying prone with a bipod/rear bag.

Is why I went to the 7.5s. They have thicker cups like the 450s and BR4s also, still pierced and cratered with everything. I have 450s and BR4s also, but the bolt just needs bushed at this point.

Thought I could get away with running the leftover 400s from the triple deuce before I got into the other stash of thicker cupped primers, but the rifle said nope haha.
