After a period of testing, thread prefixes have become a feature available exclusively for Gold and Silver Contributors going forward. This feature now promotes those members who've stepped up to help the site. For potential buyers, this also highlights sellers who have a recorded transaction with the site.
In case you haven't noticed, you can filter ads based on those prefixes - so, if you are interested in just "Selling" ads, you can click on that prefix and only ads with that prefix will be shown. The same goes for "Wanted" and "Sold" prefixes.
At the very least, displaying a thread prefix on a classified ad means, by definition, that the user is a site contributor. You still must always do your due diligence before handing over money or goods.
