Chronograph necessity

I do not reload or load my own ammo, mostly use Manufactured ammo, would a Chrono still be useful?

In your case, only for getting true velocities in your particular rifles for accurate trajectory planning.

They can be useful for predicting long range trajectory data at short range and confirming velocities for competitions like PRS with velocity limits. But a simple light beam chrono or borrowing a radar chrono is all you’d need.

The target tells you everything you need to know, accuracy and trajectory (which is used to true a ballistic calculator,).

I shoot field matches and you only get 2 shots per target. Knowing the velocity makes first round hits easier.
If you've just switched over to a new lot of factory ammo, it can be handy to know if it's different from the previous lot, without needing to confirm dope.

It's also good to know if that factory ammo has a good ES/SD so you could look for other loads if it's insufficient for your needs.

I like my Magnetospeed. I can even use it at the match if we're supposed to confirm zero before starting.

No . Your giving up so much to start with a crony will not make any practical difference. It will make the guy who sells it to you happy but then again, if you can afford to shoot matches with factory ammo you can afford to buy tool with little or no value too you. You would be way ahead to find someone who would load your ammo for you for cost of components plus 1.00 per round.

I did not even know it was an option, I would gladly go this route.

Thanks for the advice.

Assuming you want to risk someone else's 'expertise' and can find anyone willing to risk the liability that comes with loading for profit. I don't trust anyone's loading practices and certainly won't load for others. Too risky both ways.

Your right about liability but do you trust the Dr who takes your bloated appendices out or the mechanic who replaces a tie rod or the lawyer who researches the deed on a piece of property? You use your judgement and knowledge along with the reputation of who you deal with. How about the eye surgeon who repairs your torn retina. I know some shooters I would trust to have load for me but they would laugh me off the range. But I know how they load , their attention to detail, and the years of experience and knowledge. Would I load for some one, every time I introduce a hunter to the accuracy game I have, they shoot my guns. I would not load for profit as I have enough loading of my own to do. Bottom line if he is serious about the game he probably needs to ,learn to load but there could be other options.

All good points, but the doctor, lawyer, mechanic, eye surgeon and even the roofer or local plumber all carry high-cost liability insurance. Friends are friends......until they're not. Then the lawyers get rich.

Everybody is right, i know for optimum accuracy i need to reload and reloading i can imagine doing, but, this whole issue came about because i bought a 6 PPC rig and the neck requires turning to .262 and that i am not looking forward to doing, so i just wanted to use factory ammo (Hendershots).
Lastly, i am not thinking of competing, i just want a riffle/barrel/ammo that is capable of batter than average accuracy.
