My wife had her side of the family over last night for dinner... To keep the kids busy until the food was ready she gave them all Nerf pistols and a big box of ammo was thrown down on the floor. It wasn't long and everyone (adults too) was in a all out gun battle that had no sides or mercy. Lol That was one for the Christmas memories!!!

We do it a little differently.
After the gifts (too damned many for my liking) are unwrapped, the whole bunch, about 18 of THEM, break into a wrapping paper fight. There are no sides and everyone is fair game. The good thing is I didn't invest in any nerf guns.
Edit: I might add that as a kid we didn't have much and Christmas didn't change much of that. We might get a new shirt or new pair of pants. An orange or a tangerine was a big treat.
I tell people that mom would cut the front pockets out of those pants so we'd have something to play with.

At my family gathering we all buy one $15 gift and play "Rob Your Neighbor" and have a great time! We have done this for well over 20 yrs now and it's the highlight of our Christmas!
We started this specifically to relieve the financial burden on one of my sisters and found out it was the best part of our gathering.

I too have had many Christmas Nerk gun wars. The kids all have to wear clear safety glasses because they are much more powerful than when I was a kid. The one that always dies is the picture frames on the wall. That never makes my wife happy. Merry Christmas to all.

I see nerf bedding jobs, custom darts, and trigger jobs in future threads lol.
I needed full armour, a sweet little girl shot me point blank in my bottom lip. Lol
Once when my kids were little we had the all out water gun fight for my daughters birthday. I was told about 10 minutes before while the kids changing into bathing suits, I was going to be the target for all the kids. I was issued a small water gun , in the ten minutes of prep time I hid about 6, 5 gallon buckets 3/4 full of water. The water buckets when thrown on a 5 or 6 year old would some times knock them off their feet. Never have we had so much fun at a birthday party.
my in-laws got all of the grand children nerf guns for christmas one year and a healthy battle ensued including the parents and grand parents.
