Congratulations on retiring!! I have not found a down side. I don’t wear a watch and generally have no idea what day it is!!
@rjtfroggy, Very sorry to hear about your battle with cancer, and may God Bless you in your battle.I was forced into retirement in Oct. 1997, 45 years old, worse day of my life I thought. Broken back winter coming, nothing to do or able to do, sat around for a whole season, then spring came and nicer weather was able to go out and do things, it got better by the day.
Took a great financial cut but still put my daughters through school.
Now as I think back it was the best thing the city ever did to me, got to keep my benefits for me and my wife, pension for life and after I'm gone the wife gets it.
The only bad part is I was forced out just as pays were going up and didn't have any time to save for old age.
Now I not only contend with the back and worn out knees I have been fighting cancer, but life goes on so live every day like it may be your last.
Enjoy your retirement and don't put off anything you want to do till tomorrow do it now.
