Christmas Break

I highly recommend retirement. Mr. forum Boss you are in a situation you can't leave until someone can take over. I would suggest starting to train someone TOMMOROW. We never know how long this stage of our adventure will last, so learn to enjoy every minute of it. Do something for YOU, everyday. and try to do something for someone else also. I've been retired 20 1/2 years, these have been the best years of my life. I've had the opportunity to do things for me, the family and others. Not huge things, but things that made a difference, even if it was small. Don't be a grouchy old man, stay positive. Negativity only produces a problem for every solution. We sold the ranch (20 acres) we built, our beautiful view of the mountains and moved to town. But, I still see lots of wonderful things, even being shut in by the virus. Life is short, eat the cookies first.

I was forced into retirement in Oct. 1997, 45 years old, worse day of my life I thought. Broken back winter coming, nothing to do or able to do, sat around for a whole season, then spring came and nicer weather was able to go out and do things, it got better by the day.
Took a great financial cut but still put my daughters through school.
Now as I think back it was the best thing the city ever did to me, got to keep my benefits for me and my wife, pension for life and after I'm gone the wife gets it.
The only bad part is I was forced out just as pays were going up and didn't have any time to save for old age.
Now I not only contend with the back and worn out knees I have been fighting cancer, but life goes on so live every day like it may be your last.
Enjoy your retirement and don't put off anything you want to do till tomorrow do it now.

@rjtfroggy, Very sorry to hear about your battle with cancer, and may God Bless you in your battle.

Love my retirement, although I often think I work more now. No football, joined the ban on NFL and even Basketball games when Kaepernick started his rant against LE, Military and the National Anthem. But will go shooting, hunting and fishing with more pleasure, even with the cold and snow. Not going to go further than about 25 miles from the old cabin, to enjoy all of it.
