Checking your bedding Video

I dont think so, a good bedding job will test good. And most guys can achieve this at home. I dont do re-beds so there wont be a bunch of work heading my way.

Good stuff.

I think anything LESS than .002" movement on the front action screw is acceptable for a good bedding job. Most of mine have been a half a thou.

Ya, like I said in the video I have not tested this to see how bad it would need to be to show on paper. And I never plan to test that. But the key is to have no contact between the action and stock, tha includes tape, surgical tubing, clamps exc. Once you find a way to hold the stock and action where they need to be with out anything that touches the action touching the stock, thats when you really see the numbers get small on the dial. I have used electrical tape to hold the stock and action in place, .002"-.003" was normal then. Also having enough gap around the action to allow the epoxy to flow freely and not have any hydraulic pressure is important. Stay away from really thick epoxy.

WOW!

Thinking the only way you could test would be to establish a baseline - either good or bad. Then make the bedding change for another test using the same components and getting the same conditions.

To me, doing that would be an "ouch" getting all the variables under control.

Your quality results should be all that's really needed.
