Finding the lands

Great instructional video!

I also tired of the Hornady tool; had a fired case threaded to match the chamber, no ejector but removed the firing pin, put the case under the extractor before entry...still had wide variances. Did the split case. Still no joy.

Luckily, I happened to do what you've suggested a couple of barrels ago.

How about how to chamber a barrel with a hand drill, file and a die. I'll use the 6.5mm you sent me.
If you do that youll have 32 posts telling you how to improve your technique by carding your file- thats even saying that youd be using the right one to start with. I seen a thread go 3 pages one time about proper filing techniques. This is winter you know!

I've been pretty happy with my Stoney Point (now Hornady) comparator method... but I'll definitely be giving this a try!

I often wondered about the touch with my Stoney Point tool, kinda figured I was deeper than lead to believe

Thank you for the share. I've noticed the Hornady tool would be off by several thousandths between measurings. I just accepted it as a ball park figure. I tried a few other techniques with sharpies or smoking the bullets...lol anyways.

This seems to be the way to go, I will definitely be giving it a try!

I tried this just few minutes ago and think I have a feel for it. Was not sure, but re-watched the video a few times and kept seating bullet slightly deeper in case. Now I don't feel anything at the top. So I'd say I'm good

Good video and technique

Thanks
