I ran patch through the barrel marked rod it turned 2 times in 24" on a winchester 70 barrel any help would be appreciated thanks bill

Figured it was a varmint rifle. With a 1 in 12" twist you should be able to shoot bullets up to 65gr in a 223.

Speed will be best with 40gr. 50gr will probably be best for speed and accuracy combined. And Accuracy may start to fall off at the upper weight range of 65gr.

Pushing a patch or brush through the bore makes it unscrew. To check twist rate use a new brush and pull it from the muzzle. Tape the rod where it comes out of the guide, put a mark on top.....pull 'til the mark is back on top, measure how far the tape has traveled. Takes only one time.
