I like to check the scale at the short end of the scale, in the middle range and at the top of the scale. I use a 5 grain, 60 grain, 250 grain and 499 grain check weights. If a scale is correct at the high end it should be fine all the way through but if the knife edges are worn it can give poor accuracy at the low end and fine accuracy at the top end. Any friction will affect the low end first.
