Cheap additive for corn cob media?

I don't understand the desire for bright shiney brass. Clean sure but sbiney doesn't shoot better. I want my brass clean not with polish all over it.

My benchrest brass just gets wiped off with a rag dampened in ballistol. Other brass gets tumbled in corn cobb media with no polish added. I have tried ultrasonic and wet.tumbling. both were an added step that i saw no improvement on my targets. See no need for bright shiney brass.

I like clean ,I want everything firearm related kept as clean as possible . If my brass comes out sparkling when I deem it as clean then so be it. Shiny is not my goal ,sometimes it just happens . I do have to admit I love the looks of my brass glistening in the morning sun just coming over the berm at the range with a thermos of coffee steaming waiting for enough light to shoot . C'mon spring.

I am not looking for cheap I am looking for better than corn cob or walnut. There must be some kind of ceramic or plastic bead that will reduce the amount of time needed to clean brass. And if it did primer pockets so much the better.

Looks like you need to try wet tumbling with stainless pins. Your brass and primer.pockets will be clean. Now it won't cut down on time. Even after tumbling you will have to dry that brass. Ultrasonic will do the same.

I have tried it all. Shiney brass just isn't worth the bother. It doesn't shoot any better.

again no commercial brass recycler would use pins nor walnut.
think what you want, believe what you want, do what you want.
there is a single commercial brass recycler that uses a wet method, but we are talking tons of brass not hundreds of cases.
Who are these commercial places your talking about?
May contact them to see what they do use (could be very interesting to know) !.!.!
Highly doubt there using corncob to clean cases internally (bet they use a wet method).

I’ve never really wanted bright shiny brass but I did wanted to get stains and carbon off the outside of the neck and shoulders. Put 250 or so 9mm cases in my tumbler with walnut as I’ve always used and left it on for about 6 hours. Was cleanish but still plenty of carbon in places. After reading this thread the last few days I thought if I don’t try something I’ll never know so I squeezed the bottle of Mothers polish into the running tumbler and got a big lump refusing to blend in. So I grabbed the methylated spirits and put some in, then put too much in. The media was saturated so I stirred the hell out of it for a couple of minutes with a handy stick to blend the polish into the walnut. It was that wet I left if for 15 hours to dry out. Threw 400 9mm cases into it this morning and it’s the cleanest brass I’ve ever had in only 2 hours.
Now I reckon I can clean brass to a decent stage in a 6th of the time I usually leave it in the tumbler.

Ya I am not using stainless pins. My brass doesn't need to get wet, nor do I need to waste time drying it. I don't need to miss one pin and shoot it down the barrel and ruin the rifle. There are too many stories about damaged necks and case mouths for it not to happen at least sometimes. I heard a person tell of a tour through the Nighhtforce plant and the spring that holds the erector tube in place is of higher tension than most scopes. So that it doesn't take excessive force to turn the knobs the springs are polished in a vibratory tumbler with ceramic beads. There is a way to clean brass with out all the negatives, we just haven't found it yet.

All the recycled brass I've ever bought was 100% clean inside and some places charge extra for this. Nothing used in a vibrating tumbler will do that. And I have found pins in cases too. Anymore I stay with new brass.

I use walnut hull media to polish and use stainless steel wet tumble to clean
I also dry my cases with a heat gun three minutes maybe five max Then after a polish they all get blown out with compressed air I’ve never had a pin stuck never had any problems or worries about anything shooting down my barrel I don’t know what all the big deal is

Air fryer works great for drying cases after ultrasonic cleaning. Set it at 220 for about 15 minutes and they are done.
