media polish

The last that I used before I went to car polish was the Dillon polish. Car polish is cheaper and just as good or better.

I started using white aluminum oxide a few years ago. Finally narrowed it down to 24 mesh 8)

How long would you leave that in the tumbler? Does it eat away the brass...I would think so if left in to long as it's a crystal abrasive.

I mix it with ground walnut hulls. I've tumbled brass in it, and left it in the tumbler for days at a time. Doesn't hurt a thing, and the brass comes out spotless ;) Old trick I learned from a jewelry manufacturer.

If you use it for blasting, i'm sure you could damage the brass.

Thanks JRS ... That makes sense.

Bob...everything I've ever read about Brasso is that the ammonia in it will weaken the brass.

Brasso will make brass or brass compounds brittle. That's what one of my chemistry Professors told my class about 40 years ago.
