Chassis System Question

I have a Rem 700SA M40 clone bedded in a HS Precision Police stock and was thinking of putting it in a chassis stock, but I am ignorant of rifle chassis systems. Do you lose accuracy going from a bedded stock to a bedding block in a chassis?

I went from a bedded B&C to a MPA Chassis non bedded. I did not see any changes in accuracy. At least non that I could tell. It did take a little getting used to. I have 2 of them know. I'm also going to get another chassis or two for a couple of other rifles I have planned.

I have several rifles in chassis systems, and all shoot very well. I have not experienced any changes going from a bedded fiberglass stock to the chassis.

I'm going to try a Oryx chassis next.
That looks like a great deal in a chassis if you are not looking for all the bells and whistles.

To the OP, I have Accuracy International chassis, Magpul, and Cadek. They are all nice and do the job well. You might look at the Bravo or the Oryx, as they are priced really nicely, and probably fit most folks' needs.

Have alot of experience with Eliseo chassis systems. Have moved between stock and chassis with a Savage PTA with no changes noticed.

Also have a few Borden actions in Rem Eliseo chasses that are exceptionally accurate.

Won alot of hardware with the Eliseo system.

i love my MPA Hybrid light weight and track's great.

Same for me, the more I shoot mine the more I like it. About to stick a new Borden action in another one.

As for the original question, my Borden barreled action was in a custom Doan Trevor bedded stock. It shot well, I took it out of the stock and stuck it in my blue MPA Hybrid Chassis (not bedded) and torqued it in. Took it to the range with the same load etc. and shot it at 100 yards to see if it changed the POI. It did slightly, I rezeroed the scope and then shot groups at 300 yards. It shot just as tight as it did in the bedded stock, if not better. I've since shot several midrange and long range matches with it and like how it shoots. My .02

Try before you buy. They all feel different.
I totally agree with Delfuego. I thought I found a chassis that would be perfect, but when I held it I discovered that it rubbed against part of my wrist. Glad I discovered that before I bought it.

I have an XLR Evolution with the Extreme Butt Stock on my FClass rifle. I like the system so much, I would never go back to traditional stocks.

Great!! Now what brand/type of chassis do yall recommend?
Pawnee Bill,
I am a fan of the XLR products. And between me and my Dad we have 4 systems plus a but-stock system for a AR 15 my dad built. so in effect 5 total. I got a email yesterday they are having a big sale 50 percent off on the special products/clearance category. Have not looked to see but you may check them out. Good luck on your endeavor.

Followup. The advantage to the billet chassis when they use the a platform block that is machined perfectly instead of a V block. The advantage is no bedding is required. If I were to point out one advantage of the billet chassis over traditional stocks its the fact that the system is so stable that it doesn't require the bedding.
For You can pick from many different style of butt stocks, but for riding on a bag, the Extreme provides a 1" bar to run on the sand bag and has unlimited adjustment. I added some stock tape to mine and it reduced the resistance by a little of a pound.

You can skim bed a chassis but it's probabbly not necessesary. I did bed my MPA

Before I bought my first MPA I was ROing the AI shoot at Core. On Friday when everyone had a practice day I talked to MPA owner Phil Cashin. I asked him about bedding, he said you can if you want but it doesn't need it. Neither one of mine are bedded and will not be.
