Chassis options for F-class

I was looking for low center of gravity chassis that would slide nicely in a rest and the option I came across is
1.Eliseo chassis
2. Woox titano

The other options I see are not that nice. They comprize of a regular PRS chassis like MPA matrix and a track plate:

@AlexWheeler wrote somewhere on this forum that a chassis is a worse option for F-class than a laminate. Is it because of ergonomics or the other way of handling recoil?

I regularly see a few Eliseo’s with the bag rider on the F side of the line but that’s about it for chassis.

The Dolphin chassis are pretty common in the UK

My good friend Mark went the chassis route. He had taken the Savage single shot rifles, with stock modifications and custom rests he made, to high master in LR, along with performing up to 12 discrete steps on improving Berger 180’s. He used them for a couple of years, and wanted to build his own vision of the ideal F-Open system.

This is, by the way, the individual whose refinements and innovations in front rest fore end support and novel, machined, material usage, resulted in the first round of F-Open front rest rule changes.

At the time Mark made the move from laminated Savage stocks, he had travelled to many large matches, observed everything, and fully researched the subject. Mark Walker and others racked up wins and swore by Pandas, but I told Mark that was because they were great shooters more than anything, and I couldn’t see NOT going with steel given the weight limit, and that made enough sense that he selected the Bat 3LL, but then did the same thing again later, and then a final time.

He chose hard, expensive aluminum, and to produce his own stocks as opposed to ordering anything available, even though chassis systems were already in full swing. Part of this was personality driven, and a result of his professional expertise, as it certainly wasn’t to save money or time.

I watched Mark’s development of these ideas, in the 20-teens. Mark’s finished with F-class, and now I’m the new step dad of these chassis guns and the front and rear rest system.

There is no “ring” to speak of, which was always my concern about the choice of aluminum, and the near elimination of front sand bags.

Mark never went magnum, so his three guns were all .284’s shooting hybrid 180’s, and he was firmly of the opinion the .284 could do the job, though he increased BC and uniformity of the bullets more painstakingly than anyone else is willing to do, in order for this to be true. Thus, his guns will soon be introduced to tipped 195’s, that may or may not be length sorted, blasphemy.

But this is what they look like, as your idea is a valid one. I’m further, friends with a particularly good UK Fclass shooter, who also has put chassis systems to exceptionally good results.

The final stock. which remains in the white, unused yet in any matches, machined in the wide, fore end contact area instead of attaching separately milled pieces with bolts. It has fewer of the “steps” milled in and is actually taller walled around the stock’s belly.

There is no cheekpiece, and the butt pad is permanently angled, where it should be, though.

Jade won the LR National Championship in 2019 at Raton with an MPA chassis. That was in FTR, though, so no rest or bag rider. I am pretty sure he was using a Joy Pod.

As for dolphin chassis- they are no the best option. I did run one in the past.
I think the bag rider concept is not ideal for f-class and it's one of the problems chassis stocks have. In a laminate or wood stock the whole buttstock sits in the ears of a rear bag and the whole sliding motions look differently than in case of a chassis. In 99% of chassis stocks bag rider is just a bar of aluminium or steel or plastic attached to the bottom of the stock which by the way lifts up your center of gravity.
Mpa chassis seems to differ in this respect, but the question which remains is the sliding/tracking characteristics in the front rest. If you put a forend of a chassis (I am talking e.g. Mpa matrix, not eliseo one) on a seb neo x and start shooting next to a guy running 3" dima forend in his neo x, I assume he has a kind of advantage over you.
So, there are no purpose built f-class chassis providing low center of gravity except eliseo (please don't mention the dolphin) on the market.

I am not sure of the Eliso construction these days. But a friend of mine had one a quite a few years back and it was a head ache for him. The reason was that the bolt could not be removed without removing the butt. In a lot of countries the bolt must be removed before picking the rifle up from the mound so it can be cleared.

They shoot "OK"........LOL

Seriously, I have a couple MPA chassis rifles I use in FTR. I like em. They shoot every bit as tight at 1000 yards as my PRT stock FTR rifle. The chassis I have are NOT bedded either. Crazy I know but is what it is.

I have this Eliseo R1 tube chassis 6BR that I converted to shoot F-Open 300 & 600 yd mid range. Very low center of gravity. This dude hammers! Have to disconnect the butt stock to remove the bolt. But it takes mere seconds.
