changes in Lapua brass/tight chamber???

I have a Savage Target action with a Krieger barrel chambered in a 6BR. The reamer print says the datum point at 0.200" is 0.4699". My new Lapua brass is measuring 0.469-0.470" at this datum point. The new unfired brass is a crush fit in this chamber and there is plenty of headspace,+0.002"). The bolt doesn't get stiff until the last 10 degrees or so on closing. Sizing with my Redding FL S-type sizer doesn't help. Only fired this barrel on two outings. I can't seem to back the charge off enough to not get major "sticking bolt". I backed off all the way of 30.2 gr of Varget with 95 gr Berger VLDs and it was still hard bolt lift.

Anybody else experiencing this? What is the fix? Chambers this tight are a new world to me.

Thanks, tiny

whoever specd. the reamer goofed up ...it shuld be .471" at the .200 line...run the right reamer in the chamber and the problem will be solved...Roger

Both of my Savage rifles,6 & 22 BR) will have a stiff bolt if the bullets "arn't" jammed into the lands. Into the lands and I can go hotter on the charge before I start running into problems.
Jump to the lands ..
Savage is a strange breed but I wouldn't give them up. ;) YMMV.

Tiny68, I had a reamer made to match my Redding FL S Bushing die. The print shows .470 at .200. Haven’t fired the barrels made with it yet. But there’s no bolt stiffness on new brass.

I did notice before, back when I caused some body shoulder junctions to bulge from having an S die set too low, that my Forster FL die was tighter in the body than my Redding Body die. You may want to give a Forster a try.
