Chambered Barrels

I use a Quassa action developed in South Africa by Chris van Niekerk and based on the Panda with longer thread. Friends using Nesika actions exchange barrels,not their own barrels) and shoot them without any headspace or other problems,probably applicable to other top actions). My question is : can I determine the dimensions of my action and order a chambered and threaded barrel to be fitted without headspace or other problems. If so, who can determine the action dimensions and what gunsmith can I use,who obviously will have to have access to reamers)
I will appreciate advice as it will save our Namibians a lot of time, costs and effort - we import from US then export to SA for gunsmithing work and then import again.

Chris,

I know guys here are able to exchange barrels from one Panda Action to another, and Kelbly.com will chamber and shoulder a barrel for a Panda owner without having the action in shop. Kelbly's also has an export license. If you can get a precise measurement of the added tenon length, they might be able to help you.

Hi Chris if you can cut the thread end off an old barrel including the chamber you should be able to send it to a good benchrest type gunsmith and they should be able to copy the headspace and thread dimensions for you. You need the thread pitch depth and any relief groove dimensions and the amount the headspace guage sticks out the rear of the chamber.

I agree with Wild Bill. In order to duplicate a barrel tenon, thread, cone and chamber the gunsmith needs a fitted one to measure. I can't imagine anyone who would undertake to fit a barrel without it. Kelbly makes all his actions on CNC machinery and can make a barrel based on data in his files for a particular action.
