Chamber Reamer Holder

I am looking at purchasing a Bald Eagle reamer holder. However, Grizzly no longer carries it, nor does Modway. It appears PTG is the only source?

Rockjag reamer holder is similar, but he no longer makes them.

juat curious if I have other options since I’ve been told to wait months for PTG.

You must have a lathe, yes? If so make one? A few searches over on BRC (Benchrest Central) will show a bunch of simple ones that do the same thing as a Bald Eagle. Search for reamer pusher. Dave Tooley and Mike Bryant will come up with a simple one as will others. As with Mike Bryant I use a modified Sinclair neck turn holder to hold the reamer with a simple pusher in the tailstock held by an Albrecht chuck. Bet you could make one in 30 min or less.

Yes, I have a lathe. The handle on that looks like a simple set screw handle. I am not quite understanding the Sinclair neck turner part. In that photo, appears to just be a round tube in the chuck to push against the reamer?

That’s the best set up I’ve used. I have a rockjag also. The tooley pusher has worked the best for me. Easy to make

The tube pushes against the neck turner handle. Letting the reamer float in the hole of the pusher. It is simple and works well.

Pretty much. The hole needs to be larger than the diameter of the reamer. This lets it wobble if there is any misalignment.
If you hold it solid and it is not perfectly aligned you just have a boring bar making the hole larger.

So wouldn't a MT3 to MT2 sleeve in the tailstock work as long as the reamer handle was larger than the MT2 opening?
