Chamber flush system build log.

I use air tool swivels. They work great. They will eventually leak, especially if you use high psi flush. Just buy a couple and replace as needed. I am using the Gre-tan flushing kit with spring loaded cup and it uses the same type of swivel.

I mean they are 4" long ish vs a swivel is like 1.5" but ya I think I'll just do the rotary union so I don't have to re do it later and or break a swivel and have a giant mess
I use a microphone stand I got off of EBay. Made a flat plate to fit and a couple pipe clamps from the auto parts store.
Swivels are made to swivel, not spin at up to 300+ RPMs. And if you get distracted and forget to remove them they spin at 2,000 RPMs.

The Deublin unions aren't a problem. Buy once cry once.
I wasn't really worried about the cost, it's more the form factor, but I'd also rather not cause myself issues so I've ordered the rotary union.

I was going to make a fitting to put the rotary union right on the end of the barrels with a 5/8-24 thread but now I see some people are running a stand/ support arm and putting a piece of hose in between, what is preferred?

Still curious about ATF vs mineral spirits for thinning cutting oil?

This rotary union happened to have a machined outer diameter so made it easy to build a clamping gizmo. I made use of the long stud threaded into the headstock that holds a gear cover, to attach the below aluminum block that the 1/2” drill rod protrudes from (using 1/4-20 pinch bolt). Made a clamp like the cheap indicator stands use, to fit the 1/2” rod. Any runout in the plastic hose causes the rotary union to wiggle on there, but it supports it well enough.

Since then I’ve been tapping the discarded portion of the muzzle to accept an 1/8” NPT hose barb, and connecting to the rotary union with (I think it was) 3/8” hose. That smaller more flexible hose doesn’t wiggle the union around much.

Im not quite catching somethin here with those swivels
they seem to be arranged 90 deg out of phase with the correct orientation of spindle rotation
if ya catch my drift...
how 's that gonna work?

That's exactly my thought also,

the only thing I can think is MAYBE, that NPT sticking out of that block is allowed to spin freely, that would make it work.

They swivel and the threaded ripple rotates 360. Ive been using them for 10+ years and only changed them twice...just because the wear and start to drip. Super light weight and simple. I dont chamber at warp speed.
