I do understand this.

I think your explanation is fantastic.

It matches what I have been taught and the physics I know.

For some of us buying a rougher vs. having a reamer resharpened once or twice is a trade off. All things come with compromise. Knowledge helps us understand the trade off in the compromise.

Oh and I am likely to use a reamer no more than 5 times in it's life with me.

Sometimes I rent. Sometimes with a rougher. Sometimes I think about renting the closet rougher to use with my finisher.
