CHAMBER CLEANING TOOL ID.

Jayplace

I have a chamber cleaning tool that I bought many years ago. I used up my supply of cotton or felt swabs and don't know where to get replacements or if they are even available.
I don't remember where I got it or who made it. I assume the swab is cotton, but it's very dense like felt.
The swab I have measures .950 X .250 X .375.

Any suggestions? I've looked at all of the suppliers that I can think of, but nothing similar is showing up.

Your tool looks similar to the Sinclair Cleaning Tool available from Brownells:

It appears that what you want are the "FELTS", but they are currently out of stock.

The Sinclair tool sure looks like it and Sinclair was a prominent supplier of precision shooting equipment when I purchased it 25 years ago. I think we have a winner.

Of course the pads are out of stock.
THANKS

Take that end off and put on a 40cal mop (for 308 and ppc actions i have) Put a patch over it and it'll last a long time. I buy them by the dozen.
I have a Dewey, i ground the Handel down small.

It works really well.
The brass body is about the same size as the diameter of most bolts similar to the Remington size and the pad that extends beyond the body is about the same as the width of the lugs themselves.
The pad fits the lug slots and once past the lug locking point, the pads wipe the locking ramp when they are turned.

As usual, I bought a number of pads and until recently I didn't think about it or where it came from. This was before everyone put their name on the products. I'm just glad for the help in identifying where it came from. There's not much effort put into advertising the pads.

I had the unit for a time before I figured out where it went or did.

Both the round and square felt pads I got with my Sinclair cleaning kit are actually produced for dental care. I didn’t know that until we built an Oral Surgery Center a few years back. You can look on dental supply sites for them. You can get round cotton rolls on the Safco dental site, 2000 for $18. That’s a lot of cleaning :)

I have a question about the square or rectangular pad. You say they are from a dental supplier.
Have you seen the rectangular size on their site, or where they have 1/4" or 3/8" firm cotton padding that could be cut if necessary.

The reason I ask is that felt by definition is wool and not cotton.
I refer to it as a felt pad, but I assume the pad is cotton.

Hi Jayplace, I haven’t looked for the square pads on any of the dental suppy sites. I did however see some at the dental offices we have built. I’ll bet you can find them on one of the sites.

I have been using the same square pad for years to clean the locking lugs, just squirt some brake cleaner on it after use, and wipe dry with a rag.
That is kind of what I have been doing over the years.
After so many years, and replacing them from time to time, I thought I should get some new pads, but couldn't remember where they came from. I would have bought it and a number of pads around 1997 or 1998.

I guess that I've got my moneys worth.
Sinclair still lists them, but they're out of stock. They also look slightly different.

Use the Sinclair tool with the felt pads . After cleaning the Lug area with the felt pad , I put a Patch over it and do the Lug area a second time . Be amazed how much grease , crap and dirt comes out on the patch .
