They say 8-12 weeks with a copy of your FFL on file. Always read the fine print. Shipping, return, cancellation, custom orders, and re-stocking fee.

I ordered 2 and received them in 4 weeks. I paid for the fluting and I think they are good enough. I can't see any work that has been done to the action besides installing a ptg bolt. Mine have m16 extractors and small pin holes. Threaded bolt knob with a round knob. They look nice for a 700.

I am not a smith, and do not own one, but I have read reviews complaining about how the threads were corrected via "tap" instead of single point cut, and how that presented problems when trying to barrel the action. In the end it ended up costing more than expected due to the corrections that had to be made. I have tried to find more info on this subject, but have not been able to. If there are any smiths that could weigh in on this that would be most appreciated.

PTG stated they use taps to clean up the action threads. This doesnt have to cause problems, it depends on the way they do it. Ill find out when i get mine.

I did read the fine print--I also read the "limited to stock on hand". I thought id take a chance and see how PTG would do. --I found out

Local guy here bought one and just completed his build and it is a shooter no doubt about that. He is a BR guy that usually spends big bucks on actions and built this one for field shooting / varmints and he is 100% pleased on how it turned out.

Well shit. I ordered one on Feb 5th and it just shipped this week, they stretched the 12 week forecast as long as they could but still meet the date. I plan to remage it. So I hope they didnt mess with the threads too much, I was told they would only run a tap in it to clean the threads should there be burrs, not actually any "cutting"

Actions squared by ptg are front ring squared locking lugs squared ptg bolt but they do not attempted to square or true threads. I've fitted several and honestly the abutments were good a bolt timing improved over factory bolt etc.

How did you jump ahead of everyone else?
Dunno, Ordered a 223 action with the rail. It actually just came in a day ahead of the scheduled delivery date. Just looked it over. Bolt fits just about right in the raceways with little to no slop, bolt was also fluted which I didn't order. Has a sako extractor, stainless shroud, and bolt handle. Primary extraction/timing is allot better than the last few factory actions I've had. Action face and lugs have been "cleaned up" and the threads have been cleaned up (chased with tap) some but not oversized. However I'm getting little lug contact on one side and 0 on the other.

We run a .705 Gen 3 reamer with double straight close fitting bushings in the receiver and ream the .705 raceway and it cleans up the standard thread and kisses the inside lug face and the outside face of the receiver simultaneously, all with the same specially made Gen 3 full truing tool then we use two .7052 bushings on each side of the ejection port to assure the standard tap +.001 creates a true concentric thread that will stay square per the face to lug to barrel . Then we put the one piece bolt in the CNC Grinder and prob the face and grind the bolt body and fit it within .0002 concentric . The bolt diameter is - .0015 to -.002 under just in case folks want us or someone to cerakote or any other type coating to be used on it . We grind these for close cam clearance and they are ground just like the Stiller, Marsh, Christianson, Surgeon, Howa, Nosler, Weatherby, FNMI, Winchester, CZ USA, Ruger and the Military MK-13 bolts among others but the bolt body diameter is larger than others to assure close fit and Bench Rest Quality or as much precision you can get out of a fresh Remington Receiver and still hold the Machinist Handbook tolerance for standard thread +.001. I hope you can see the amount of time and effort we put into each independent action, this is why some Actions take longer than others depending on bolt face size, firing pin size and the availability of our water jet cut then machined and heat treated blanks to our precision grinding department . Some take longer than others to fit because we sell at least 7-20 Remington Actions per day along with 5-7 Howa semi trued Barreled Actions and our Stiller/ PTG B series Actions that our named after different WWII and Vietnam combat Aircraft like the big sellers the B-17 and B-52 Actions . I guarantee that our Howa, Weatherby, Remington Rimfire, Model 7, Remington 700 and 783 series actions with One piece PTG bolts or trued factory bolts, Along with Mauser, Remington, Winchester, Savage, PTG/Stiller B series and Other action and Barreled actions, Some even have expensive stocks on them with Scopes installed on them . These Actions, Rifles, AR- 15's and Hand guns are the best priced Actions on the market . The Howa and Weatherby barreled actions are guaranteed from the factory to hold half minuet . I bought 2,000 Remington Actions and sold 1,000 to the Department of Defense and kept the rest to sell to you all . The other big savings to you all are the Dipped in various patterns such as Snake Skin, Camo, Wolfs hair and many others patterns on the 1500 Howa barreled Actions going for $350 bucks, I purchased a truck load of them . Now all the rifles with Stocks, Scopes and other parts are New or Refurbished that we either bought, Traded or had given to us over the last 30 years to use as master rifles to manufacture Bottom metal/ floor plates, DBM's and many other atachments are at bargain prices, we have everything from Red Rider Beebe guns, Uzis pistols, Muasers, Sako, Savage, Tikka rifles to Thompson machine guns with drums along with M-60's and FN Saws . Its time to have a garage sale of rifles, Actions, Bottom metal, Chamber Reamers and many other things through are stores at a very low price, we even have WWII 1911 pistols, M1 Garand, Mi carbines, Vietnam era Machine guns and many many others that will be listed along with old collector guns to be listed on the Cabin Fever Sports web sites in the next couple weeks . We are opening the first Cabin Fever Sports store here in White City Oregon this month, Then within 5 years one in Texas, New Hampshire and the Southern Eastern Mountain area close to our larger customers so we can sell goods and resharpen reamers in different geographical areas for better service and turn around. The stores will sell all PTG catagory of parts and hundreds of other manufacturers parts and goods along with having CNC tool and Cutter grinders to Resharpen all makes and types of cutting tools . Pacific Tool and Gauge here in Oregon will concentrate only on Chamber Reamers, Cutting tools and Gauges and Pacific Tactical will machine all our Rifle, Automotive and other products as the next few years unfold. We aim to give our customers better customer service with cheaper than dirt prices when possible. Please keep your eyes on the new Cabin Fever Sports web site . Right now its attached to the PTG site but soon to be independent. Hope all these explanations of products help you all in some way . Thanks Dave Kiff at PTG Custom Shop

I was expecting the faces to come out bare metal like the above poster, mine looks to either be left untouched (my inclination) or it was reblued. Of course I would love for it to have been true from the factory and thus nothing taken off but I dont have a way to test that as I dont have any sort of lathe to do so with. In any case its a better deal than just a stock bolt rem 700 so it will do. And the bolt fit is tight enough that I dont trust myself to cerakote it out of fear of oversizing it and binding. Maybe once it has a few hundred cycles on it it will smooth up a bit, as it is now its... tight.
